Long story short, kinda got ****ed by specialized who in turn agreed to buy me a new fork of my choosing.

I'm running a 36 factory fit4 and the X2 now. The fork feels like it's at least equal if not better (maybe better small bump sensitivity) then the Ohlins. I think it's a little lighter too?

The X2 is amazing. I'm running it at 250 with 2 spacers and it's spot on. Still messing with the LSC but the climb switch actually works. Feels very similar to the STX22 but more plush. I didn't get a weight on the shock alone but between the fork and shock swap (From stx22) it's about a 1/2 heavier overall.

This is how an Sworks build should have came.

Rich-

I think you need to check that scale! I can't believe those numbers. My Sworks with just the TTX coil (air fork) was nearly 34lb (35?) and it's a large, I did have a tube and small pump when weighed but empty it still had to be over 31lb. That's a real similar build with 24/28h carbon rovals.

Scales are bang on mate - accurate within +\- 10g. Don't forget I weighted it as atock and it came in at 33-34lb - Can't remember exaxtly.

My intense primer factory weighs 26.5lb on the scales which is right also....

Yep

XL Enduro frame full carbon with TTX
36 Ohlins coil forks
Light bicycle Rims 32 spokes, on Hope pro 4 boost hubs
Minion DHR 2 and DHF tyres, both 2.3 tubeless
Ice tech 203 and 180mm rotors
SIXC 800mm 35mm rise carbon bars, Easton haven 50mm stem, both 35
Raceface grips
Raceface Next SL cranks, 28T DM chainring
XG1195 (X01) cassette
GX mech and shifter
Spech dropper and saddle (as stock)
DMR Vault MG peddles

Still got to swap over:

X01 mech and shifter to swap over
Guide Ultimate brakes
Schwalbe magic mary 2.4 front tyre
Reverb 150mm
SDG bel air Ti saddle

Think that will get me to 30lb...

Then I'm going to use all the kit I've taken off the specialized to build up a production privee shan GT hardtail :)
Nice build! How do your IceTech rotors work with the Guide brakes? That is a HUGE weight savings as the centerline rotors are noticeably heavier in your hands. Also would love to hear your opinion on the longevity of the Light Bicycle rims. Thinking about going that way but don't wanna be left without a wheel if they break easily.

Ice tech work better in my opinion - no squeeeeeling!

Light bycycle - I've had these rims since 2013 - they have been on 3-4 bikes since then, and I've just had them relaced to new pro 4 hubs for this build. They are incredibly stiff, have done alps, bike parks, big drops to flat and have been totally unphased by this. I rode with a mate in the autumn on some really rocky descents and he smashed one of his zelvy rims, the LBs were fine... Can't recommend them enough.

My size large Jawbreaker is coming in at 33lbs. I'm struggling to see where I could save more weight without spending a fortune. I'm running 36's and the stx air shock.

I guess with a real light saddle/pedals maybe 30 is achievable.

Large frame w/X2
Fox Factory 36 fork
Syntace megaforce 2 stem 40mm
Guide RS brakes with hope rotors
Sworks dh bars
XX1 eagle w/30t absolute black oval
KS Lev 150mm
Specialized power saddle
Xm481's w/I9 hubs DHF/Aggressor DD
Deity blade runner pedals
Empty SWAT

31.99lb on a bike scale
The carbon Rovals are almost exactly 1lb lighter so I guess I could potentially lose another pound in lighter tires/pedals/saddle/rotors?

Large 27.5 w stx
Factory 36 170
Thompson elite 40mm
Renthal Carbon Fatbar 20mm / 760mm
Saint brakes with icetech 180 rotors
Xt 42t cassette
Xt cranks with Renthal 32t
Xtr mech and shifter
Command post
Sdg ti circuit saddle
Mavic Deemax Pro WTS with charge xl tyres
Burgtec pedals

Yeah cranks and cassette I could look at but it's pretty solid.

Same numbers on the one I saw in the shop. I also noticed that the spring was shorter and the actual wire diameter seemed narrower than the springs on earlier iterations of the TTX. This is a good thing because the original TTX springs were super heavy. I had heard anecdotally through the LBS that they were working on lighter springs like everyone else, so I'm assuming that's what's on these new coil models. Would be interesting to see the what the weight difference actually is. When I switched to a Ti spring on my TTX I saved over 1/2 lb, so pretty significant.
Ohlins Weight

New spring

Caveat. I have put a 57mm stroke spring on instead of 63mm as my stroke is limited to 57mm. But I'm sure the differences will be similar

Over the weekend went and rode Bike Park Wales here in the UK using the uplift service, going down one of the blacks heard a couple of heavy hits from rocks bouncing up and striking the frame.

Cleaned her up yesterday and one of the rock strikes has cracked the plastic frame protector and after removing it to check it has also damaged the paint underneath, the carbon under the paint looks okay, just exposed!

Thank god for the frame protector! Anyone else done similar?

Be easy enough to modify the existing protector with a bit more padding, some mastic tape inside it maybe?

My LBS are ordering in a new one, they are only ÂŁ15 to replace. With the new one, yes, I think I will apply some mastic tape to the inside.

I did notice when I had the guard off, there are 2 holes for mounting and then under the BB a smaller non threaded hole, am I correct in thinking this is a drainage hole for when water gets in the SWAT?

Well the ol'stx is going back to Spec for the 2nd time since buying the bike last fall. Pretty un-stoked to jump back on the FatBike when the trails are just starting to get good. I can't cope so another shock is in order. I am dead set on the TTX. From what I have found, this years model has a firmer pedaling platform than the STX and the new springs are lighter as well. Hopefully it is less prone to failing than the last gen TTX as well. Does anyone have any ride time on this years Enduro/TTX that could confirm or deny the statements above? The only info i have been able to gather may be totally bias coming from Ohlins and Spec since nobody has much experience with this particular setup.
ALSO, I spoke to Spec initially and they informed me that running the MRP AMG V2 bash guide is ok on two mounting tabs. Then MRP stated that it is necessary to run all 3 tabs to sustain a solid impact or else... Now Spec cannot confirm or deny, but why the hell would you spec an AM/freeride/enduro race bike that doesn't have the option to run a bash since no company out there makes a 2 hole mounted bash? Please correct me if i'm wrong or if there is something i am missing or have yet to hear.
Thanks a million.

My STX started to loose air - slowly for now.
I have ordered Fox X2 as a replacement (I will keep STX after service as a backup). Just too many advantages to good air shock - tunability, weight, adjustable progressive rate. And - really important - it could be serviced fast locally.
TTX looks cool though, no questions :)

As for bash guard, I'll skip for now. All bash guard strikes on my previous bike were during relatively slow speed rock maneuvers and were all pilot errors. Also, in most cases there would not be strike at all without bash guard - it was just hanging too far below 28t ring. Risk of braking chain and bending chainring is tolerable imho - but sure it depends on riding style, some people use those chainrings/bash guards as legitimate third wheel.
