Trail reports please

I have 6 rides on mine so far. 2 XC, 1 DH at Mountain Creek and 3 techy/rocky chunky trail rides.

I'm coming of a 2013 Rocky Altitude that I used to run in the most slack/aggressive setting with the fork set to 160.

My background is mostly XC until 2 seasons ago when I bought the Rocky and started doing ESC enduro races. I bought the Balance because I wanted a bike to make the the race pace runs a little bit more confident then the Rocky could while still being a good pedaling bike on my local trails.

I expected this bike to be a way more capable descender and it did not disappoint. At MCBP it held its line through chunk with the rear end just eating whatever came. It was also noticeably more stable at high speed then my Altitude which would start to get twitchy. I used Vin's park tune to start and didn't change much from those settings for the day. Spent most of the tweaking time getting the Pike to feel as great as the rear end. All in all very happy. Hoping to get back for one more DH day before the season ends. Felt like I could've pushed the bike harder each run, seemed like it was begging for more.

What I'm most impressed with is how incredibly well this Bike pedals. I've read about the "magical" Canfield suspension for quite a long time so I expected it to be good...But I'm pretty amazed. On fireroad and non-tech climbs it gives up little if anything to my Altitude which was a much lighter bike and no where near the descender the Balance is. The suspension has a great platform for my stand and hammer climbing style.

On tech climbs the Balance is WAY better than my Altitude. I actually started to climb rocky stuff with the the CCDB on open because I love the way the rear end conforms and grips over chunk. It doesn't feel like I'm losing much if any efficiency without the climb switch. Very cool!

Awesome bike. Can't wait to get more time on it.

How did it ride on the xc trails, as I would like to only have one bike and also sell my xc bike.

In otherwords it handles XC very well.

Enduro Review with Review on MRP Stage

Hey guys! The racecourse beat me a bit yesterday, but the Balance sure did it's part! Took 12th place. For not being an enduro racer and use to only going DH, I felt good with my results! Didn't know there was so much climbing in the actual stages haha!! Time for some reviewness on the bike! First off, some guys wanted to know how the MRP Stage was.
I am a huge lover of the DVO Diamond, BOS Deville & "Zocchi 350, but I would definitely put the Stage in this category of forks if you're looking to save some cash! The small bump was out of this world. There were tons of roots on the course and braking bumps, so the fork absorbed all of them with ease and kept my hands comfortable. Very stout fork with 34mm stanchions at 170mm of travel. And that ramp control.....best feature by far! I wasn't using all my travel on my first run, so I backed off the ramp and was able to dial in some extra plush and use every mm of travel possible!
As for the Balance, well the bike totally slayed the courses (until I messed up corners and such, which was all my fault haha). Glad I have this to train on for the DH season!
P.S Mine weighs 32.5-33lbs. I like it hefty!

Received my large, brushed frame on Monday, currently being built. Canfield wheels, pedals, Pike RCT3, XT 1x10 drivetrain, KS dropper post, Deity cavity stem, Raceface Atlas bars, Butcher tires, can't wait to get this baby out to our local flow trail. Oh yeah, and the really cool kicker to this is, my last name is Canfield and I'm rockin a Canfield Bros. Balance bike.......ooohhh yyeeaahhhh. Thanx Lance, Cris, Sean, Vin, you guys rock.

I am very pleased with how my build turned out. I'm still waiting for the new XTR 9020 Trails brakes to be released. I am considering a 150mm Stealth dropper post. The MRP AMG guide doesn't fit with the oversized Race Face BSA30 BB and needed modification to fit. I am very happy with the suspension performance, the Climb Switch on the shock works really well. I am a fan of the rear wheel path and it helps the bike from getting hung up on in technical rocks both up and down. I am 5'11" 200 lbs and the Large frame fits me perfect, comfortable but can still throw it around. This bike is really fun to Whip. Can t wait for race season and the bike parks to open back up. VitalMTB bike check

Does anyone have any recomendations on a 150mm dropper post for this frame? I think I am between the the KS Lev Ti black, KS LEV Integra or a RS Reverb Stealth. It looks like to route the cable for stealth it would need to be zip tied to the other cables on top of the downtube, is that correct? I am wondering if it is even worth it to to go with stealth routing and if it even looks any cleaner.

Dunno about the KS offerings, but the RS stealth is NOT available in the 150mm travel for 30.6 tube. The ONLY 150mm travel they have is for the 31.9 seat tube.
