All these Balance builds are awesome.... Keep them coming...
My thoughts on the bike:
Smooth, Flows and carries speed. Handles root and rock strewn DH runs like a bigger travel bike, but carries and climbs like a goat. I have noticed I am riding in a bigger/Taller gear ratio on most of the trails I ride. After dropping the PSI on the rear shock to the recommended pressures, the bike just woke up. Really enjoying riding it!!!! Thanks Lance, Chris, Vin and of course Sean for the opportunity to own and ride 5 of the coolest bike designs out there!!

Comparing my 2011 ONE to the Balance - the One sets a little lower in the travel and eats the bumps a little more efficiently as expected due to the travel. As far as pedaling and climbing goes... The Balance outshines the One in both areas. I am sure due to the HA difference and newer suspension design. Since building the Balance, my One has been moved to the Buddy/Friend borrow status on the DH days. (set up as a single crown DH bike)

Thanks, that's what I wanted to know. The size and color of Balance that I wanted is sold out till spring they said. Was thinking of getting a used One instead, I think I'll just wait till spring as the Balance seems to be just what I'm looking for. Thanks again for the reply..

I have 6 rides on mine so far. 2 XC, 1 DH at Mountain Creek and 3 techy/rocky chunky trail rides.

I'm coming of a 2013 Rocky Altitude that I used to run in the most slack/aggressive setting with the fork set to 160.

My background is mostly XC until 2 seasons ago when I bought the Rocky and started doing ESC enduro races. I bought the Balance because I wanted a bike to make the the race pace runs a little bit more confident then the Rocky could while still being a good pedaling bike on my local trails.

I expected this bike to be a way more capable descender and it did not disappoint. At MCBP it held its line through chunk with the rear end just eating whatever came. It was also noticeably more stable at high speed then my Altitude which would start to get twitchy. I used Vin's park tune to start and didn't change much from those settings for the day. Spent most of the tweaking time getting the Pike to feel as great as the rear end. All in all very happy. Hoping to get back for one more DH day before the season ends. Felt like I could've pushed the bike harder each run, seemed like it was begging for more.

What I'm most impressed with is how incredibly well this Bike pedals. I've read about the "magical" Canfield suspension for quite a long time so I expected it to be good...But I'm pretty amazed. On fireroad and non-tech climbs it gives up little if anything to my Altitude which was a much lighter bike and no where near the descender the Balance is. The suspension has a great platform for my stand and hammer climbing style.

On tech climbs the Balance is WAY better than my Altitude. I actually started to climb rocky stuff with the the CCDB on open because I love the way the rear end conforms and grips over chunk. It doesn't feel like I'm losing much if any efficiency without the climb switch. Very cool!

Awesome bike. Can't wait to get more time on it.
