2013 Giant Talon 29 x 2.?? tyre question

Hello peoples.
I have a question regarding tyre sizes especially for Giant talon owners.
Currently I'm in the market for a new set of tyres and I'm just curious whats the largest size I could get for both front and rear?
At the moment, I have Maxxis Ikons 29 x 2.20 for both front and rear.
This time around I'll run a larger tyre on the front and a smaller one on the rear (e.g Front 2.40/2.50 and Rear 2.35/2.40)
My concern is would a 2.40 fit the rear or is the max like 2.30/2.35?

I have a 2019 Talon, and yes a 2.3 fits on the rear. The biggest limiting factor is more the rim width.

Is that the widest you can go to? is the tyre clearance just barely making into the frame or do you think you can go up to a 2.35?

I could likely go wider sure. But again the rim width is what is stopping me.

I'd say 2.4 on the front easily, 2.3 or 2.35 on the rear and see what happens. I don't understand the idea of rim width limiting the tire width - we used to run 2.4's when that was the biggest tire on rims that were 19mm internal because that's what came on bikes. Try stuff and see what you like. True, if you go too wide on the tires with a narrow rim, they will squirm a lot, but if you know what to look for then you can back off on the width if you notice it's a problem. It's pretty easy to sell a lightly used tire.
