We are looking for someone with lots of experience building sustainable trails and study stunts for this summer season. Silverton Mountain hosts the best lift served DH in the western US, and plans to continue building big time trails again this year. Due to heavy snow on the ground, this work season will run from approximately July 18th-Labor Day for about 40 hours a week. Duties also include Bike Patrol, inspecting trails daily and helping with medical evacs. Also looking for a lift op/trail builder position that does not require previous experience. Call 970-387-5706 or preferably email info@silvertonmountain.com

Hey, just curious but what is the minimum age of people that you're hiring? I'll send you an email in a second. :)

Check your email. I don't have lots of trail experience so I'd be interested in the position requiring no previous experience but I'd be eager to learn and help out as much as possible with trails if I got a position.

The lifter/trail builder position provides great trail building experience and does not require any previous skills. Just good attitude.
Sounds awesome! :) I'll continue this conversation via email. :)

I'm not sure if they will leave their territory, but you should contact the bike shop in Issaquah, WA. There's some guys in North Bend that have built up some Northshore style stuff that is hands down some of the best built stuff I've ever seen. I build trail, dig, pick, build stunts, but I'm only going on my second season of building trail. However, those guys in North Bend, WA are the one's you seek, trust me. I wish I had pictures. BTW, what's the pay?

im building 8am to 3pm saturday for sure. i broke my digi camera so no new pix until someone else brings one by. but im finishing the opening section in two weeks or so. 9ft drop to berm to 9 ft drop to 10 ft drop to 10 ft drop to 40 ft stepdown to berm to 25x10 road gap to start the dirt jumps. im hoping to get to the dirt jumps by july 10 or so.
i was working on a 35x10 road gap with a 25 ft double in super tight rhythm before it, but its so gnarl that im waiting a little while on that (its a ways down a transfer off the main trail). that line will end with a 100ft long wallride eventually but its not in the main trail corridor so that will have to wait until i have the dj's done and the ns park section is worked on.

Where exactly are those trails located? Any links to directions? Is that the Exit 36 or whatever trail?

I can't really give that info out over the net, and it's bad juju for me to write directions for ya in an email. I didn't build them, and they arent exactly legal. I suggest talking to some of the guys over on Ridemonkey in that PacNW forum. If you tactfully find some people, they will be able to show you the trails off of the I-90 corridor. If I still lived in that area, I'd take you out there, but I don't, and I didn't contribute to building the master pieces, so I can't disclose their locations. Sorry, I hope ya understand, it's trail edicate 101, respect from one builder to another.

Just post up over on RM and be tactful, not like you were here though, shouting out names is bad juju, and they will shut you down quick over there.

I'll give yah a hint though, your somewhat close.

I'm going to CB this weekend so I'll be gone. Sounds sick though. Maybe next week sometime?

Damn I wish I still had terrain like that to work with! Do you do work for a different ski resort? That sounds like some serious shizz your building, just wondering what level of building your at, meaning, are you still packing in the chainsaw, hammer, shuvel and nails or are you out there with the bulldozer and endless supply of materials? Do you have any pictures of stuff that you've built or worked on before your camera broke?

heres the 35 ft road gap with tight rhythm dub before it. and then the unfinished start hip drop (landing worked on but since pic i have added a crib wall approach to make a narrow raised dirt path to a dirt lip on top of the rock). the pix are just build shots final products will have berm exits, finished lips/landings, etc. i use standing dead, donated lumber, shovel, pick, axe, etc. too gnarl varyying slope for heavy equip in most spots. i have a generator and power tools as well.
bulldozers and crews are nice but the best dj's i have built are built in stages of progression. you see more lines, transfers, etc that way and they end up flowing better.

Looks sweet. Any photos of wood work as well? Pay ranges on level of expertise, but in the $8-$10 range for right person. Lots of satisfaction seeing others hit your stunts huge and gettin after it.
Hey, just curious if you were able to look into that question I had for you yesterday yet. If not that's cool, just wondering. :)
