What's the weight difference between the two for the 05 version with RP3?
Also what shocks are shipping at the moment on new spots and fluxes?
Are they the new RP3 with the light medium or firm stickers on or are they still 05 shocks?
I am thinking of waiting for the new shocks and wonder what RP3 DT is gonna use? I assume it'll be the light valved version?
So any ideas when 06 shocks will be on the Turners?
Still can't decide between spot and flux...

Most of the extra weight on the 5 Spot will be the paint,it would be nice to have a polished 5 Spot option.Have you tried both bikes as they do not ride the same, the Flux is faster steering and climbs faster due to less travel than the weight .

I think the Nicolai is going to be fairly similar to the spot and I am after faster steering so may well go for flux with some nice mango king bits...

Is the Flux as plush to ride as the Spot or mucho firmer ?

I'm lookin' at options for the misses and she likes it smoooth. She also doesn't do any rough stuff (well not on the bike but that's another story!) which'd better suit the Flux and it's lighter too. Actually, the Spot's steering is probably fast enough and I've a gorgeous Pace RC41 waiting for a light weight build which'd suit a Spot better. Decisions, decisions.

Sorry Robbz, I didn't intend to hijack your thread.

06 frames

they're not going to use the 06 shocks until the 06 frames come out, probably in 06. You'd have to get a bike shop to switch it out for you and pay the difference. Problem with that is that the bike manufacturer custom tunes the shock so you'd miss that if you bought one off the shelf.

Perhaps someone could double-check this but, the last I heard, the Foxes weren't custom tuned. The Romics were, but I don't think Fox was doing it. Maybe this has changed. Even on the Romics, the 5 Spot specific custom tuning was minimal, the Turners really don't need it. If custom tuning is what someone really wants, it's best to have it tuned specifically for the rider...Push comes to mind.

Not necessarily, just depends on if/how many 05' shocks Turner actually has in stock. Fox has already switched over to 06' stuff in most shock/forks so it's definitely possible that you could end up with the 06' RP3 (which does have significant internal changes) on 05' Turner frames shipping for the next few months. The bike manufacturers do not custom tune them, they simply choose between 3 different OEM valving options from Fox, so depending on the frame design you may end up with the same thing if purchased aftermarket.

Damn! is that lead based paint? I suspect the .6lbs difference has more to do with the tubes than the paint:p
