mine is clearcoated raw aluminum. i am indifferent really as to what the color is, but i am going to be in the market for a nice full squish this fall/winter and looking at the intense tracer29, and the available colors are...loud? shall we say. (the blue chrome, however...kinda diggin it)

the only drawback i see to colors, or color schemes, is that now you are stuck when trying to find upgrade items that match- if you care about such things. bars, grips, saddles, cranks, hubs, spokes, etc... on one hand i can see why (and see myself doing it also) people would want to match their accessories with the frame color, but on the other hand, i can totally understand saying "fcuk it" and getting add-ons in off colors- either solely for functions sake and color scheme be damned, or specifically to not match, and be as loud and obnoxious as possible (also see myself doing this.)
big terry, get where your comin from mate, but the good thing about raw alloy, black, grey, white etc, is that you can just about add any colour scheme you want to it n it looks great, im a fan of the raw look aswell, n underneath i think that colour means something even if just a lil bit to a lot of us, i does with me anyway, who knows i might be a fashion designer in another life....not....:D

I tend to buy my bikes for a good deal. Part of ferreting out that deal is that it is obviously a good price, but also being aesthetically appealing. I am usually put off by anything too garish, no matter the price. I don't cycle at my best when cringing... I too like to look at the things in the garage sometimes.

As long as its not so ugly that I have to sneak up on it I don't care.
AZ, lol, i like that quote alot, i just had a good chuckle at that, if you dont mind ill put that up my sleeve to use at a later date, if you dont have a copyright on it ? very funny, cheers mate

My nicest road bike is yellow. I really like that color on it. Good for racing bikes. :)

Silver and raw or clearcoated aluminum finishes are pretty cool. Raw or clearcoated Ti is pretty cool.

My mountain bike is dark red with a metallic finish. I get a kick out of the metallic finish, on the occasion that it's clean enough to see, but I feel indifferent toward the color.

My 'cross bike is bright red. When it's clean, it's pretty shiny and I like it. When it's dirty, I still like the red.

Don't care hugely for the dark red-orange on my commuter. I'm pretty indifferent toward the navy blue on my track bike.

I think white is stupid for all bikes. Even my road bike gets too dirty for that. And when everything's white, it looks like a ghost bike, which I find creepy and morbid.

Dark colors and obnoxious hits on some of the parts can be fun. :) Dark and muted colors can be nice on bikes that get ridden a lot because as the builds turn into a grab-bag and the finish gets chipped away, they don't look quite as trashed. I think the missing paint on my MTB would be much more obvious if the other paint was brighter.

My bike is orange. I don't really care too much for the color but I got a smokin deal on it so it was worth it to me. I've been trying to decide whether I want to strip it down to raw aluminum and polish it up with no decals or paint it flat black with gunmetal grey decals. Decision decisions...

I've never been able to chose the color of my bikes, per se -- usually I just buy what is on year end clearance or the used deal I come across. As long as it isn't too crazy, I don't care. If I were given the chance to pick, it would probably be black, gray, something muted. I'm not one to attract any more attention than I have to.

When I bought my Enduro, there was another Enduro in the shop that was bright green with blue/purple writing, wheels, etc. Looked like a color scheme that the Joker would have picked out. I do recall feeling fortunate that I didn't have to decide whether I'd ride a bike painted like that for a good enough deal.

My bikes are all themed around my life. Before getting into cycling I used to play in a ska band and love reggae and ska and almost all music. My current race bike is a titanium frame, so no color on the frame. But all the componants are red, gold and green anodized pieces including a Chris King dreadset. I've named that bike "Irie" for the feeling I have while riding it. That one has the reggae influence but I also have a fixie with the ska influence. Its a bike I've name "Rudy" that I've painted flat black with a few key areas accented by white checkerboards.

I particularly like raw (unpainted) frames, old school, utilitarian look. Generally that's titanium, which is of coutse awesome if you can swing it...

But my stable is black, jand ust added an El Mar in blue. Kinda blingy for me, but rides just fine of course.

I think most of the bikes that are being sold are nothing more then a colorfull billboards with the brandname's on every possible tube and part.
My personal preference is black or dark grey.
Last year i sanded my Cadex and sprayed it matte black and fitted it out with orange parts and turned it into a SS.
(i have to say that this is my "nice weather" bike)
The bike i'm currently building up is a KM wich will se a load of green ano parts.

And since everybody is talking about all their fancy color combo's but almost nobody is showing them....
Here is the most colorfull ride in my stable :

When I bought my 2000 K2 Evo 4.0 FS frame off Evilbay it was stripped to a raw finish. For me it was a great opportunity to choose my color which was Kawasaki Green w/ white saddle, grips, pedals the original carbon fiber swing arm. Bikes been like that for almost years and an obscene amount of time and miles put on it. I have recently been thinking about stripping it down and doing it flat/matte black because I have really grown to love the flat/matte black look. So it maybe flat/matte black w/ green accents. Color does matter to me.

Color is only part of the appearance, and it doesn't stand out as much as the details do. Things like gloss, gradients, and contrasts between different components are the main thing that make a bike look awesome. But when it comes down to the main color, I just stay away from pink and anything that doesn't look shiny when clean.

In recent months, a member posted a question asking, "what is the fastest color?" I think it was about helmet colors??? Anyway, it got lots of replies...
