If you are ok with primitive camping, go up rd 76 and find a nice spot before you get to the SB trail marker. You will see a few atv's and a few who shuttle the SB from that point but other than that, it's quiet up there until bow season starts. The road is rough but at 4x4 is not required.

Yeah I have been up that road. Not a fun one with a 1 ton dedge ram. Rough s.o.b. That shuttle ride is on my top 5 best rides ever though. The one from af to taos. I dont think the 86 saab will make it up that one. I think I will either be camping in the lot or at some family friends house. Might stay here and ride sol vista next weekend since all my friends are leaving from denver and have other acomodations. All my mountain friends are broke and cant go till race weekend. Rats!!

FARK!! Apparently no camping at the base area this weekend. Anyone camp at the lower lot's by chance? Just wondering if its allowed. I can't get a straight answer from the resort.

Lower lots do not allow camping. If you try to sleep anywhere outside or in your vehicle/camper at the resort, you'll likely be hassled by the police. Understandably so, since it's private property and a business that makes it's money on lodging. If you're looking for free camping, or camping at all, you'll need to look away from the resort property.
What's wrong with the place at the bottom of Palo Felchado Pass I told you about? It's only a couple minutes from the resort, it's free, and very nice with plenty of room for privacy.

Just keeping my options open if there are no spots available. Memorial weekend can suck for camping. I'll probably see you over there. I think I will just bring the truck and trailer. Save me a spot!! HAHA! I will be alone probably as my friends all have places to stay. Jerks! JK.

Quick update on the camping situation at Angel Fire: I got an email from the bike park director that said camping "on-site" would be $25. He did NOT say where the camping was, or if that was a per-night cost or total for the weekend. Kind of frustrating that there's not better info, really. Can't blame or fault AF for charging for camping, though... like delnorte said they ARE a business, and as such they should make some money. I'd guess they'd rather put people in rooms for the weekend than have them camp in the lots, better for them for sure.

Speaking of, that's what I did. Rallied a couple friends, my girlfriend, hit VRBO.com and found a stupid cheap 2-bdrm condo for the weekend. Livin', son.

Let's remember, kids, I'm just the messenger. No need to negative 'rep' me for passing along information. After all, I didn't decide camping in the AF parking would cost money, I'm just here to help. And yes, I'm a little butt-hurt that someone gave me negative 'rep' for an earlier post about camping.

Hopefully the canyon doesn't get too crowded with bikers(harley's) this weekend. I hear it will be madness there. I found a spot on a friends property to camp so I wont be in the canyon this time. Look for us on the mtn though. I will be on the white and blue glory with my friend on a red socom. Super stoked for saturday!!!

Angel Fire Camping- Monte Verde RV Park Works ok

Just finished a 3 day MTB instructor course at AF provided by the folks from Whistler, BC. Very worthwhile training.

For just $10 per person, per night, I got a place to tent/car camp with nice showers, WiFi, electricity for the phone/laptop and water tap, Quiet enough and 2 miles from AF lifts. The owners are real nice folks. No bears here anyway. Find em on the web.

AF bike park is real dry right now, but they are definitely adding new stuff everyday. Look for "Chutes and Ladders" coming soon.
