It feels like a clunk that I feel from the rear shock and also feel in the handle bars. It happens peddling in low gear (just like all other noises) So off the bike if I grab the shock and lift up or push down I get the noise. I have taken the shock out and lubed the mounting points with grease lock tight the bolts and it still does it. Out of ideas...Help please

Check for play in either the upper mount where it bolts to the frame, where the shock mounts to the Clovis, or where the Clovis mounts to the suspension link.

There may be play that has developed in any of these places. If so, replace the warn bushings, bearings, ect.
I dont feel any play but when checking the shock I feel and hear the click where the shock mounts to the linkage. Is the bushing in the top of the shock replaceable?

If it's a RP23 check if the shock is fully closed. The threads of the two coke can pieces are very fine, maybe you can close them a bit, 1/360 Deg. or so, more. It worked for me, had the same..

Just as I came back to this thread to update what I have found I see this. Yes you are 100% correct. the shock was not completly tight. Loose just enough to make noise. Between that and the DU Bushing the bike is quiet again :D

Sorry don't mean to hijack, but where is the 'coke' can piece on the rp23

Thanks
He means the largest diameter part of the shock body, where the air is stored. You have a shaft which goes inside the "can" and there is a threaded cap on the end of the can. When everything is in good shape it looks like one piece unless you look close you can see a seam.
