Went to Heil this morning to get a ride in. Fortunately there were a couple of runners who had packed down the trail after last night's snowfall. I made sure to thank them when I met them on the trail. I don't think I could have made it as far as I did if I were breaking trail.

The sun was out the whole ride and there was no wind. It really turned out to be a beautiful morning. I only wish my legs could have taken me farther than the homestead. The ride back down was a blast.

I saw a couple other bikers coming up as I was passing the bench back down. Closer to the trailhead I passed about 10 people hiking up. So I think the trail will be nicely packed down for the rest of the weekend.

Went to Heil again this morning. The conditions were almost identical to yesterday's except the sun was hiding a bit more. The effort of riding was greatly improved since the trail had been packed down nicely. There was about a foot-wide section of packed down trail for all of Wapiti. There were a few sections of mud but since the temp was in the low 20s I wasn't rutting it out. It was nearly perfect snow riding conditions.

Heil is a great snow ride. Not too steep so you can climb most of it.

I remember riding it once in 0 degree weather. I was desperate for a bike ride. That was the most clothing I have worn riding, I had my ski jacket on, fleece pants over tights, 2 pairs of gloves, booties, face mask. It was hard to move.
