TL is paper thin. punctures very easily.
Not always true, depends on manufacturer or level of tire in the hierarchy. The sidewall of the Schwalbe Hans Dampf with snakeskin is stiff and durable and it is TL ready only.

Specialized S-Works series TL tires are super thin and light, but the Control series and then Armadillo Elite series is thicker, heavier and more durable and they are still only TL ready.

Most tire manufacturers offer different levels of durability within each tire line. The more you start to learn the easier, or harder, depending on your view, it becomes find the right balance of durability and weight. I am, well..... a little bit weight weenie so this is a constant struggle of balance for me.

All this being said, going to a true UST tire will always add weight and thickness to the tire, but no sealant is necessary.

I have a 2.4 Fat Albert TL( box has a UST logo) EVO 3 star triple compound snakeskin. Tire seems as heavy as other tubeless tires I have seen and the bead is heavier than the UST Nevegals I had. Going to use it on front of my RFX for winter riding.
