Serious answer: impossible to answer until you tell us what "raising a family" means. Does the cost of living matter? Are good schools important? Close to a major airport important? Do you have to earn a living there too? Does a town of 5000 sound big, medium, tiny? How about a town of 100,000?

I'm still voting for Trinidad for family values (staying married). If you split and decide to date in Trinidad, interesting results, humor, and mayhem will surely make you regret your separation ;)

Pretty surprising all the replies in such a short time span on a Saturday afternoon. Also very surprising the OP has been able to roll with the typical FRangers jabs.

My question, and I think it was asked above, does making a living in your chosen town (warm enough or not) actually have any bearing in your decision? Work from a home office via internet so no problem if there's absolutely no "real" jobs to be had locally? That would make a difference fo' sho'.

Oh yeah, and trails nearby? Always an important question I would think on an mtbr forum.

I'm in the medical field so having good medical care in the area is a must. i would think anywhere in colorado would have decent to great trails. i'm not that picky when it comes to the trails and wouldn't really seek out anything extreme.

Castle Rock seems to be the best place I have found so far. Great schools, low crime, nearby trails, etc.

If you're in the medical field, they are currently building a medical center here. It should be done soon. There is also Sky Ridge Medical Center which isn't too far away either.

Good Luck

Looking for good communities to possibly relocate for my family. What are some good towns and communities?
Google "Fort Collins Best Place"

This town is awesome and there is a reason it's always "best place to __" but if I had to move to metro Denver or Colo Springs I'd check out Golden west of Denver or Manitou Springs area west of COS along the front range. Proximity to riding and nice quality of life are awesome IMHO.

Is there a bad place to raise a family in CO??? Worst case scenario, you're three point five hours from a ski area and there is some sort of singletrack in the near vicinity. I've lived on the west slope and the front range and both are great if you can find an income. If you want conservative God fearing people, come to Colorado Springs. If you want green hippies, go to Boulder, but if you can afford to, go to Summit County. Its really all good.
