What time frame you think I would be looking at for the nearest camping?
On the river? It would be aways... on the CO side it would definitely be ABOVE Dewey Bridge... but not sure even then how far. And I'm not sure what the camping allowance is down below Moab... not even sure if you can get there once you hit the Potash plant.

I think if you continue past Amasa through the big switchback decent and a bit further you'll eventually hit "Chicken Corners" (I think that's the name). Plenty of free spots back there last year and prior. I always like camping up top of Long Canyon just before the entrance to Dead Horse. All these places require a **** bag and the ranger's will check!

fooblahblah - I am not to bright. What exactly is a *****bag and where can you get them? I am thinking it must be some kind of trash bag made specifically for human waste. If it's something rangers will check, I want to be ready. Thanks!

I miss "The Taco Bender". I've found cool camping spots out Blue Hills Rd. but stopped doing that after trying to negotiate that road after a heavy rain. Now I specify "after a heavy rain accessible" type road surfaces. That's why staying at Squaw Flats down in Needles works for me---it's paved!

Last I was in Moab, there are several camp sites along Kane Creek Rd. They are pay spots, but only $6 per spot when I was there (3 years ago). They are marked on topo. maps. Good luck.

Yes, they supposedly can be thrown in any trash can.
