Decided to punish myself today by riding a new loop. Pemberton clockwise to Dixie Mine, Prospector, Bell Pass, Windmill, Coachwhip, the remainder of Pemberton clockwise, with a side trip to the gate on Rock Knob. I'm thinking 25ish miles, correct me if I'm wrong. If somebody has an idea at climbing elevation, I'm curious to know. Prospector was a tough climb for me. Coming down Bell Pass, Windmill, and Coachwhip was much fun. From the time that I started on Dixie, until I came off Coachwhip, I only passed 1 hiker, 1 runner, and 2 mtbers, had the world darn near to myself.

Ahhhh...my back yard. I am surprised that we didn't cross paths. What time were you out?

Left the trailhead @ 11:55 , so started up Dixie maybe 12:15, hit Bell Pass about 1:30ish, descent was fast, back to the trailhead @3:08. I've ridden Pemberton enough and think it's relatively easy, but after that loop I did today the finish on Pemberton wasn't so easy, Prospector took a lot out of me.

Nice photos! Love to get out there and ride one day!!!!.............Drew
Thanks Drew. I'll do it again, it was fun, a very tough climb but not too tough. It was a good hardtail ride, I run 1x9 on my 29er and there were a few times that I would have liked more granny than 32/36, but mostly my drivetrain was adequate.

how's the knee?
Much better, thanks, started feeling better late Thursday. Took it for a light test run on a little bit of Bees Knees and Gila yesterday, felt good last night and this morning, so I figured I'd go out today and really push it. I felt great climbing, went from the trailhead to the base of Prospector without a break. Took maybe 3 breathers on the way up Prospector, then non stop from Bell Pass back to my truck, about 3:15 total. I feel good right now, I must be fixed. Now I just have to figure out how to stay on the bike and quit tumbling going through the chunk.

Ah, that 'splains it. I was back home, refueled, and in full recovery nap mode by 11:30. You had quite a ride. Prospector up to Bell pass is pretty much interval training, but it sure is a blast bombing down out of there.
