J- which half? I'm free Thurs and might join you to gauge how realistic I'm being about this. If I am hanging by a thread it might be my last chance to "throw the game" before Sat, when, you know, my bike suffers a fatal fall off of an exposed cliff. Let me know here or FB.

Ok... day before the ride... starting to get that nervous, excited feeling and still trying to decided between geared, suspended or SS Niner... any words of wisdom from you all?
It's less about which bike, and more about which form of cyanide to bring. Capsules, liquid form....? ;-) My suspension bike is currently hashed, so I will be on an SS, as will Walt. Who also rides a Niner. I need SOME excuse for not making the distance, right?

Another excellent AES ride, in the bag.

First off, a big thanks to Beverly for the giant chocolate chip cookies - fantastic. And another huge thanks to Brent who dragged his wife out to the northern section of the BCT to cut back some of the scourge of the desert - Catclaws. He and his wife spent a good amount of time out there whacking back those nasty little plants so we wouldn't bleed as much.

I took some pictures and posted them here: https://entertainment.webshots.com/photo/2566260650101986607zdHYaa

Yep. And I'm stoked. We finished the whole thing. Hiked that last of it in the dark. Nothing short of epic. Had pizza and just got home. Long version tomorrow. I'm whooped.
Awesome job, I was wondering about you two as I was collecting my photos tonight.

Good riding with you today.

That was a great ride, and a great day...thanks, Jeff, for pulling it together! One of the best trail systems in this area...

Good job to everyone, and way to be "scrappy," Deanna!!

Brent, thanks for the company, and thank GOD you reiterated the need for Deanna to drink that Perpetuem!!!

Pics up in a bit...

Thanks for stashing the water, providing the gps track, and putting the ride together!! Lots of new faces yesterday and some familiar ones too. It was great riding with you guys!

Some random observations in no particular order ...

Beverly makes awesome chocolate chip cookies! Thank you!

I don't think that you can ride that much of BCT and not improve your skills at the end of the day. This is true in my world anyway.

Pumping through the rolly polly flowy sections of the trail is sooooo much fun. If you haven't been on a pump track do it. It makes riding trails less work and more fun!

I went back to flats on my XC bike about two months ago and I'm so happy I did! I'm so much more comfortable on my bike and my knees are much happier.

I love my new to me Stumpy!

If you haven't ridden to the point that you're semi delirious do it. You learn a lot about yourself and realize that the limits that you set for yourself are in your head. Your body is capable of much more.

That you can still be stoked 50 miles into a ride. We had a riot riding the flowy stuff on the last part of the ride.

I was ready to take the bail out at 40 miles. Thanks for instigating me to finish the ride Mikey. Really glad we did. Huge sense of achomplishment! I kinda knew I had to come to terms with the fact that we were probably gonna be out there in the dark if we did the last 16 miles, but we had everthing we needed. We hiked the last 5 miles in the dark, out of water and were still in good spirits at the end. Very cool day! It was actually kind neat being out there in the dark. Kinda funny because we went for pizza afterwards and were both starving and the best either of us could do was 2 slices of pizza and a few bread sticks after being on the trail for 12 and a half hours. Kinda funny how the body deals with stuff.

58.3 miles and 6106 feet of climbing! Not too shabby.

The beer on the left is my trophy from the AES McDowell Monstercross last fall. It was my first big ride. The one on the right is my trophy from yesterday! My house is probably one of the few places that an unopened beer is safe. :)

Thanks for waiting up for me Mikey!
