I bought a Shift R5 early this year and I´m really happy with my bike. The thing is I recently putted it on a scale and it weighs in at 32.5 pounds which seems a tad heavy for a bike with 120mm of travel on both ends…

I´m no weight weenie by any chance and you can see from the upgrades I´ve made. I always look for function before making crazy weight cuts. The thing is I want my bike to drop a couple of pounds maybe by upgrading the wheel set. I was thinking of using transition hubs laced to some mavic rims, maybe some xm-819. Would that manage to cut some weight? Is there another upgrade that I could make to lighten my ride?

I´m a heavy rider, 200 pounds with gear and ride mostly trails with some occasional downhill tracks.

My current setup is:

Thanks dogonfr and Jill. At some point I told you (Jill) I was going to make some upgrades to my Shift in order to make it more "air friendly", and I also want to end up with a lighter set-up.
I´m currently thinking of changing for a shorter stem (70-80), and that´s going to make it easier for jumping and also lighter…
The next upgrade I might make is getting a hand built wheel set using Transition hubs and some DT Swiss rims and spokes.
I figure both upgrades would make my ride ready for minor dirtjumping? Thanks in advance for your answers… ;)
