Well, looks like I have joined the SC family. I put down a deposit on a Nomad today at my LBS. Went with the R AM package but decided to upgrade to a 36 float and a DHX air. My question is this: Those of you running DHXA's on your Nomad 2; how do you like it? I have never run a DHX air mainly because of the horror stories in the past associated with this shock. Wondering how well it rides and how much of a PITA is it to set up?

It's a great shock on the Nomad 2. It'll treat you well. Allegedly not great on the VPP1 but that's not what you are going to ride! I am running the 2010 36 Float on my bike and loving the thing. It rocks.

I have always hated the DHX air. No mid stroke control, and I found it to be lazy and uninspired.

BUT

On the nomad 2 it just rocks. It really does. It feels lively, travel feels deep and controlled, and no odd "blow through the travel and bottom out" action at all. I had an Rc4 on mine, and that just didn't work out for me at all. I still suspect the shockw as buggered, but who knows.

Have no hesitation going for the DHX air. You'll actually love it. I hated it on every bike I tried, but on the Nomad 2 it just rocks.

Why the DHXA when the Float R works just as well without the extra weight and all that uncecessary bells and whistles? The bottom out control was never needed and I can only remember a few times I actually locked out the rear shock - once just to try it on a long fire road climb and the other on a steep hill where I mashed on the pedals. The comfort and traction of an active suspension that is setup properly (i.e. sag at 20% minimum) certainly far outweighed the small reduction in power loss.

Keep in mind that a coil will still feel the best, but I save my DHXC for the bike parks and shuttle runs.

Bottome line is that the MK2's suspension is designed well enough that you don't need to fiddle with anything....just concentrate on the ride and enjoy the scenery.

Welcome to the SC family, darkslide18!

gticlay, or anybody, what are you running for settings on it?

I ride Galbraith too, for perspective, clear most all the tables on U-line, and do most everything else up there. Generally, I am very smooth about what I do. Well, most of the time...

Fully suited about, 190lbs. I haven't really played much with the pressures, but have settled on 185psi in main, about 135 in boost, 1 click of bottom out, and whatever for rebound.

I keep the boost low because my thinking is that will keep it most active. Anybody have any other thoughts on settings for it?

That's a lot less boost psi than I'm running. I'm at 165psi in the boost, 1/2 turn in on the BO and a fair amount of rebound.

Hey - we should go riding. Been up there the last 3 days in a row and won't get up till next week but as my sig says - wanna ride? Maybe you can help me clear the jumps on U-line :)

I will just have to bring a pump. Usually, I just would rather ride. I do like how it rides the way it is though. Just plush-ish. Flys through the chunder on A-dog. I don't want to lose that for the sake of peddle performance.

Yeah I'll ride with you. We do a lot of mornings during the week. 8 am at Padden lot. Just quick ones to the towers and down. Back to work by 10 in Burl. Let me know if that works, and I will let you know when we go again.

This morning was a little wet, but not too greasy.
