Well, as the title suggests, I am looking to buy a frame to build up for my fiancée. I'm looking for something with 140-150mm rear wheel travel, and it must have a tapered head tube.

I already have a Float RL with QR20 and tapered 1.5 steerer, so that is driving my frame choices.

I would prefer a womans specific frame, but am not stuck on it, I think we could get away with a men's 16.5-17" size and a short stem.

Anyone have any frame recommendations?

Santa Cruz BLT carbon runs a shorter TT than most. You should really look at fit more than being woman specific. Women are as different as men in shape and size. Most WS bikes are shorter in the TT and "pinked up" for her plesure. In most cases when fitting women I have found that they perfer a bigger frame and shorteer stem rather thatn the other way around. Hope that helps.

I'm finding the tapered head tube to be the tough criteria. There really doesn't seem to be that many options yet in a 140-160mm AM frameset.

Keep in mind that you can do 1.5 head tube, with reducer on top and standard on bottom.

Transition Bottle Rocket or Syren would be good choice, but they will be heavier.

Also the upper level Specialized Era and Safire use tapered headtubes. Kinda lame that they dont on the lower models but if you can buy frame only that would work.
