Here is my first SS in all her glory. My first hardtail in several years, and my first rigid fork... EVER! Of course that old Quadra 21 I had years ago was probably pretty darn close to rigid other than the crappy steering.

First ride was a bit harsh with the rigid fork. This was no surprise coming off of a 5" trail bike. I have an old 80mm Marzocchi that I may try out at some time, but for now I am really having fun with the rigid fork. It is not so harsh once I got used to it and I love the quick and precise steering.

The trail pic was taken in the remote wilderness of my backyard, which is my new project now that I have the SS built. Hoping to build a little trail back there to use as a test track and a place for the kids to ride.

Yeah.
I have to admit I am really loving the rigid fork on my Surly.
I agree that it takes a little getting used to but once you have it is good fun.
That backyard of yours looks awesome. Wish I had a backyard like that one.

Here is my very similar Australian based Surly 1x1.
