I'm looking for my first real mountain bike. The Response Comp looks like a solid machine with good componets for the money. Opinions Please.
I'm looking to do some trail rides and just get off the beaten path a little. No crazy downhill stuff for me, I'm too old!:eekster: Still don't know how that happened.:D
My old Wildwood and I have done a lot of miles the last few years. But I'm ready to move on. Down 100# 10 more to go. 5' 7" 170 now.

That is a solid bike and great bang for the buck bike. I tell my customers that it is the first "off the rack" trail bike. No need to go right off and upgrade things like a fork and other components, for example. I would just change the tires personally. You won't regret this purchase! the 2010 models have just come in and they are really nice looking and lighter weight the earlier models.

David hooked me up with a response comp. I'm a big fan. Bike is very solid feeling and gears and disc brakes are very nice. I'm 6'5 and 230lbs and I've been beating it up on snow, ice and mud. Only problems I really had was a chain kink, which i'm sure was due to all the gunk I'd been riding through. I cleaned the chain and all was good. I can't wait until I can actually get on some dry solid track, although sloshing and sliding has been great fun!
