And I happen to find it, hand-first. Thank God it was only a Cholla. My pinky was lucky enough to be loved in stereo by a pair of chollaballs. :madman:

last year riding Hangover (er...the climb up to Hangover) I went though a little notch between a cairn and a rock and put my hand right into a cactus.

a year later, Gangi did the exact same thing to the exact same plant.

I need to find the BatPhone and call TrailDoc!!

I think cholla's are part of the initiation of riding out here.
Its not if but when you'll run into one like that.

I think everyone has spent their post ride plucking needles out.

That happens almost weekly on our Thursday night Pyramid Peak rides. Cholla central out there. I always get them stuck in my ankle between it and the crank arm. The front Rampage loves to throw them right at my ankles. We usually resort to using 2 rocks to pry them out.

My worst one was when I was lucky enough to sit on a cholla. Lucky in that instead of spending hours plucking needles out, I just had the SO yank off my shorts. I felt like a human Velcro.

Pretty much what you see out in the desert out there is pointy and sticky... Gotta keep your wits about you - some of those boggers are right up on the trail edge just waiting for you to be off center and shazzamo - you get it.
