How does this carbon seatpost rack up? its the SB25 version, does that mean it has a 25mm setback?

how is the quality of it? it will be replacing a stock seatpost on my RH SL Pro

Also, can someone tell me how tight i need the seat quick release to be? i dont want to crack the seatpost. I don't have a torque wrench either...

much lighter ;)
my buddy has a lot of FSA K-Force parts and they are pretty high quality but i have no experience with their products.
eh... i'll stick with the high quality name brands with carbon fiber, i dont want a stick up my ass! and $90?? forget that, the FSA Carbon costs $45. Also, they dont have the size i need which is 30.9.

btw was that some sarcasm? lol

The FSA SB25 posts are a bit short for a 350mm post, more like 340mm, so if you need all of a 350mm post it might not be long enough to maintain their minimum insertion.
its fine, my stock seatpost is only 320mm and i'm fine on that...

just because something came from the same factory doesn't mean it was built with the same materials to the same standards.

I've been looking at this same post as well as a Thomson Elite or Masterpiece setback. Can't seem to make up my mind. My Stumpy came stock with a 30.9 x 350 of which I cut 2 inches off. I can't find the FSA in that exact size. It comes in sizes like 27.2 or 31.6 x 350. Can I use a different thickness than what I have on there now? (I assume the 27.2, 30.9, etc. numbers are the thickness while the 350 is the length) Any other recomendations of setbacks that might save a little weigh over my stock Specialized post?

U need to have the same size as the one u currently have. The thompsons are much more expensive and dot have any vibration absorption compared to this carbon post..
I imagine the carbon post vibration absorption would make a huge difference riding a hardtail. I ride a full sus Stumpy though. How much difference does the carbon make on a full suspension frame? Also a little worried about it not being strong enough.

Carbon posts are not a great option if you raise and lower the seat a lot, they scratch up quickly, which can shorten the life of the post.

In big diameter seatposts, the alloy versions often weigh less than the carbon versions. The 30.9mm Race Face Deus alloy post weighs 8gms less than the Race Face Next 30.9mm carbon post.

I got my seatpost over the weekend and weighed it immediately, came in at 266g.

Its not as light as i'd hoped but its still an improvement in materials (CF vs Alu) and weight (266g vs 296g) The saddle clamp is damn heavy though, it probably weighs more than the entire seatpost (sucks)

What was nice was that it came with some FSA Carbon Installation Compound. Too bad i had already ordered some from AEBike. =( haha

does anyone have any specific questions about this post? maybe i can help ans them.

Edit: Installed on my bike today with the included FSA CF Compound. dia a quick test ride around the block hitting up some curbs and the post didn't move around. GREAT!

Heres some pics: (my saddle was moved way too far fwd for the install, need to change that!)
