Down to about 20 degrees. I've done a few rides in the teens... just not much fun - can't keep toes and fingers warm even with the lobster claw gloves, neoprene covers... Plus, it rarely gets that cold here - missing those coldest days doesn't amount to much.

Define your version of cold...Cold to you might mean 40 and I would say that is perfect riding weather. Cold to me means below zero, not so fun anymore... Commutes and flat paths have been done at that time of year but not trail rides.

Wet trails make me stop. Snow more than 3" or so too. Cold below 10F is too much.

Leaves are difficult in the dark. I keep running off the trail. I need more powerful lights.

Three years ago we had little snow. I was trail riding until spring thaw.

I wish it would get cold here, heck even a day 25C or under would be nice :skep: but so far it's 31C here already today and that's been the temp for the last don't know how long - too damn hot :(

Yes, like a few others, if it's cold enough the trails stay frozen - I ride. If it's wet, ride the road. If there's more than 3 or 4 inches of snow, some of us ski the trails.

Temperature wise, I'm good to go unless it's below zero, then I tend to stay inside.

I agree, I'm tired of 30-45Âşc weather.

Eventually. Too much snow will do it (more than 4" or so). Cold AND wet will keep me inside for sure...barely above freezing and rainy is just terrible weather. Bad for the trails, but worse for my well-being. I've gone down to a bit below 20F without any terribly special gear. Could go lower if properly clothed and snow was minimal.

I don't know how you define cold, but I stop riding as much for several reasons. I don't want to get burned out on the bike so I try and find other activities to do. I play basketball even though it's extremely hard on joints. It's nice being around a lot of other people unlike cycling and it's nice to do something different. In the fall it's my favorite time to ride, but it's hard for me to find time due to the early darkness and school. It's much easier for me to hit the gym, run, swim, or lift weights. This is no substitution for riding though. Specificity is key.

No way do I stop for the cold (as mentioned above, depends on what "cold" is). I ride all year long as long as it won't harm the trails. We have a crew that keeps the trails open year round. While I enjoy the trails in the summer most, I have come to love riding when the trails are snow-packed. Night riding in the snow too is a wonderful experience also.

it's already about -5°C here in Edmonton and I'm still riding and intend to do so until -20 or so...

Only issue is, my crappy Suntour fork on my Hardrock freezes. Any solutions to this?
