I am 5'10 with 33" inseam and seem to be between sizes on Giant Trance X2.
Should I get Medium or Large?

With Large, bars seem too high above seat. seat post is extended about half of available length.

With medium seatpost looks really high but have about 1" until the minimum mark. Also, seat is pushed back almost to limit on medium to get reach to bars.

I could drop stem on either medium and large and put different angle but still might not be agressive enough on the large.

Any help would be appreciated.

What does your LBS suggest?

I don't understand your description of the medium bike: The seat is adjusted all the way back in order for you to reach the bars? And you could drop *what* on the stem on the medium? The length? The angle?

Based on the limited information you've given, it sounds like the large is the right bike for you. Then again, the medium may be the right bike for you with a setback seatpost. It's really hard to diagnose over the Net.

Are you looking at different bikes other than Giant? It could be that Giant isn't the right bike for you.

Thanks for the response. The LBS suggested the large.
On the medium, the seatpost already has an offset (~0.5") and the seat is pushed back on the rails almost as far as it goes to get proper reach to handlebars. On both the medium and the large, I could take about 1 inch of spacers and move on top of stem. also could buy 0 angle stem or flip this stem over to get negative angle (spending a lot already and would rather not buy new stem).

My concern is the large is too upright and the medium I will not be able to make comfortable ever.

I demo'd a BMC Fourstroke 02 also. It was a medium and was setup too agressive for me. could make it better but not really interested in buying it because it is a demo and frame warranty is only 3 years.

Typically a larger frame will stretch you out more, not sit you up more. If you feel too cramped, you could remove the spacers and add a longer stem. You could start by removing the spacers and flipping the stem. You could also ask the bike shop to let you test ride with the longer stem (not to purchase immediately) to determine if that in fact, make the bike fit better.

It really sounds like the medium is too small for you.

Seat position is determined by how you sit over the pedals , not by reach to the handle bars . Chances are LBS knows what they are talking about and would not knowingly put you on a bike that does not fit . FWIW I have a 35 inch inseam and ride a xl Trance X .

the trance x has a TALL bar setup stock. ask the lbs to drop the stem below the spacers for a quick test ride. i hated the tx until it rode it with the bars dropped a bit. its setup like a beach cruiser.

try a large with the bars down. its a great bike once you get it fit to you.

ive had multiple lbs's try to sell me the same bike from size small to large.. just so happened that they had those sizes in stock.

seems like shops only want to fit you on a bike that genuinely fits you when they have them all in stock anyway.

being cramped on a bike sucks! if you have to stuff the seat all the way back on a medium, i think you'd grow tired of it. if you had to get a shorter stem on a large, i think you might find you like it that way better!
