Wow! I don't how you get a bike with a 7lb frame and a 140 fork down to 26.3lbs, but you must have some tasty kit on there.

Somehow I suspect you're not being entirely fair to the poor old SXC, after it served you so well. I'll bet most of that six pound difference is in the kit you hung on it. But I still say the most important thing for climbing is efficiency and traction. My Element is my fastest climber, faster than a hardtail with the same kit, owing I'm sure to the reduction in wheelspin.
With the XTR cranks it was 26.3 pounds, with the Race Face Deus cranks and Blackspire bash ring it is sitting at 26.5 pounds. A lot of carbony bits, but not as many as the factory build with the RF Next cranks.

Definitely a lighter build than my SXC, with the DT Swiss fork, the SXC was at 29.5 pounds, but with a more usable fork and a MAverick SPeedbal seatpost, it's 32 pounds.

my medium Altitude 70 rsl weighs 26.4 lbs (according to my scale). This includes 2.4" tires, medium duty tubes, water bottle cage, mud, etc

i imagine that my xt hubs and xt brakes are probably heavier than some of the other options out there.

Old thread but a newish build for myself. Got a CR90 a while back and built it up and then change a few things but I can say it was finished about a week ago from all of my messing around.

The bike made up weighs 17.5Kg and 1kg of that is super bright lights and an 8cell battery pack.

So that 16.5Kg build includes a 170mm travel front fork.. most of the frames weight comes from the fact that the rear triangle is not carbon and when taken off the bike, weighs almost as much as the rest of the frame itself.

Strength has been a focus on this frame and mine has taken a knock or two but is still a great performer. Although designed to climb, with my setup it is more aimed at going down without having to hang your bum over the back of the saddle.

It is that rear triangle that ramps the weight up and I am guessing that with other carbon frames the makers have made the rear triangle of carbon as well..
