Bike Specs:
`07 Superlight
SRAM X.9 shifters
SRAM X.9 RD
Shimano Deore XT FD
Truvative Firex Cranks w/ stock large ring, Shimano middle ring, and FSA small ring.
Shimano M770 cassette
SRAM 951 chain
Problem:
My chain rubs no matter what. I have adjusted the FD so that it is centered, slightly in, slightly out, barely clears the outer ring, clears the outer ring by about an inch, and have adjusted the cable tension multiple times.
The best results have been either
A. chain rubs a little when in granny gear but nothing else when on small front ring, rubs when the chain is on the largest two and smallest 3 rear ring rings while on the middle front ring, and rubs when the chain is on the smallest two rear rings while on the largest front ring.
or
B. chain does not rub at all while on the large or small front rings, but rubs no matter what on the middle ring.
After not being able to adjust it any better than either of those options, I left it on option A since it offers the least amount of rub on the gears that I use the most often.
Is it possible to eliminate ALL rubbing or should I just live with the minor rubbing that is going on right now (and yes it is BARELY rubbing).
Also, the limit screw that you adjust when the chain is on the smallest front ring and largest back ring is useless no matter what on my FD. The width of the Shimano XT FD appears to be a little too wide.
