What do you guys use for recovery drinks? I just found some EAS myoplex lite at costco and am trying it out for a bit. Any one else using a protein based drink for recovery?

Everybody knows that Dr. Pepper is a MUCH better recovery drink!![]()
Im not sure if DP is a good choice as soda and excess sugar are 2 evils of the modern world :thumbsup:ddt3003 said:I agree..nothing beats a cold, crisp, Dr. Pepper! Before or after a ride.
Century Rider - I have used other Top Form products such as their Good Energy chocolates and Whey protein (I recommend Chocolate) but I never have tried the muscle makeover. Does it taste chaulky or what? Let me know...i might try it soon.
What exactly do you think dextrose (the number one ingredient in Muscle Makeover) is?Century Rider said:Im not sure if DP is a good choice as soda and excess sugar are 2 evils of the modern world
Yes the Muscle Makeover in fruit punch is the best[...]
right on...3 tblspoons dextrose and 3 of maldextrine with a scoop of whey protein is all you need immediately after work out and 1 1/2 after workout consume a meal consisting of proteins and a healthy fat i.e. olive oil. I usually eat ground turkey with veg spinach or broccoli and a few tablespoons olive oil. Dextrose and malt can be purchased in bulk on line very cheap. All the good name brand recovery drinks will contain these two elements and allot of other things that are really not needed. Hope this helps.Century Rider said:Dextrose: Better known today as glucose, this sugar is the chief source of energy in the body. Glucose is chemically considered a simple sugar. It is the main sugar that the body manufactures. The body makes glucose from all three elements of food, protein, fat and carbohydrates, but in largest part from carbohydrates. Glucose serves as the major source of energy for living cells. It is carried to each cell through the bloodstream.

why don't you just point a gun to peoples heads and start shooting?flargle said:Most amateur racers would be better off losing a bit of weight rather than slavishly following the "30-minute rule" and the "4:1 rule".

the most important time to eat and replentish is right after a workout. you are less likely to gain weight as the body is wide open to absorb then way later or the next day when what you eat is most likely excess and not absorbed so quickly.
dieting is smart if you are heavy, but not right after a workout. you will feel horrible for up to three days if you do not replentish quickly. if you jump on the recovery bandwagon you can be almost be fully recovered by six hours later.
sodas with caffine will dehydrate you and pull many essential vitiamins out of your body instead of depositing them in. hows that? you are going in reverse than foward just to get a small energy high. not worth it.
use hammer products!! I do.
