Mmmmm.... looks fantastic!!!!!

I may have mine, finally, tomorrow - failing that Monday. Tomorrow would be good though as I have a good ride scheduled for Sunday morning, which ends in a Brewery (I kid you not!). Would be a fine first ride that!!!!

One question though... is your stem wearing some kind of a hat ;) Must be a bit chilly where you live if it is - mine shall be a hardy Scottish bike with no need for such accounterments, I just hope it's possible to ride it whilst wearing a skirt ;)

It's a stem pad to protect the 'nads. Vital if you want to keep wearing a party hat, nudge nudge, wink wink

I've never ridden there but I hear it's a great and tough place to ride.

I live in Avon - what size is that Yeti and what shop did you get it from?
Hi CT rider,

Middlesex is definitely a great place to ride. Great, rocky, twisty, technical riding. If you send me your e-mail address, I can put you on our riding distribution list.

The Yeti is a Medium. I bought it online from Adrenaline Bikes. They were great to deal with on the phone, prices were good, but their build left a little to be desired. The steer tube wasn't cut evenly, so I had some trouble getting the headset tight enough. Also, one of the brake cables was ridiculously long.

Fantastic idea - never seen one of them before... well, apart from the pads that we had on BMXs back in the early - mid 80's anyway ;)

That said, it's been a fair while since any accidental neutering on the steerer for me so I think I will continue to survive - and indeed party - for a while yet without ;)

Amused by all this talk of Middlesex - if you saw what the namesake in Blighty looked like the comedy value would not be lost ;) Looks like a fantastic area for riding you have there!

Nice Puzman!

I'm torn between the Raw and an Ano black. Probably about to order from Adrenaline to ship to the UK. Is this a bad move????

Rich
I have no comment on Adrenaline as I decided to go with a local shop, but if you're looking for opinions on color, I vote for ano black. Nothin tougher looking than black ano.

I agree - the original Middlesex doesn't have quite the same riding opportunities!

I would be tempted to order local - means you have warranty backup without sending it back over the Atlantic... peace of mind if nothing else! Mine is coming from Wheelcraft up in Clachan of Campsie (just outside Glasgow)... indeed it should be coming from there tonight if all goes to plan (Hope delivery seems to have wandered... and that has my brakes and front hub in it!!!! Due to turn up today now after it was located, so fingers crossed!)

Not sure how much you would save ordering it in from the States once you paid delivery, then Import Duty (4%ish I think on the cost plus shipping?), handling fee and then 17.5% VAT on the whole lot of that! Probably a wee bit, but not sure it would be enough for the hassle!

Colour wise, mine is black anno, although the raw does look very nice indeed!

My last calculation (based on BeyondBikes quoted shipping cost of approx $150) put the cost of a 575 with RP3 at between ÂŁ900 and ÂŁ1000. If you were lucky enough to have the customs form indicate a lower value than list then this would drop.

Right now, the price of peace of mind is to darn high - ÂŁ400!!

Just ordered mine

I'm new to Yei but I just bought a Raw one also. Only riden hard tails until now. Seriously considered a SC Citrus Blur, but it seems they have more problems.

I could have taken imy new ride home but I'm upgrading the Race Disc to a talas fork. Can't wait! Should be smooth riding both up and down.

I haven't looked at their prices to be honest - is that including duty, handling and VAT though? If not you would be looking at ÂŁ1250(ish) as a total cost... which brings your saving down a fair bit :-( But then you may just get lucky - I bought some snow boots from the States recently, no import duty was applied at all, so I got them about a third of the price of a lesser boot in Europe (they are for the arctic late this winter)!

Picked mine up last night - black ano with RP3... it is very, very nice indeed! Just building it at the moment... not sure that the cow pattern Fi'zik saddle sets it off though!

(Sorry - reply for Rob and Martin Uk)

A 575 ano black with Enduro kit (what was called Disc kit in 2004) costs $2199. Shipping to UK $240. Import duty 15% on all that. VAT 17.5% on all that - comes to $3296.

At $1.90 to the ÂŁ, that makes ÂŁ1735. The frame and rear shock alone bought in this country cost about ÂŁ1200. By the time you add a Vanilla to that and a groupset to match the Enduro kit, you are well over ÂŁ2000.

I reckon i'll save at least ÂŁ500. If the bike falls apart, getting the warranty sorted will be tricky, but one of the reasons for buying Yeti is I don't think the frame will fall apart.

What I cannot understand is why Yeti's are so expensive in this country. If I can import one personally and save ÂŁ500, how can the UK Yeti dealers charge so much???

Rich

ps. I know the figure of $3296 seems a lot for a 575 Enduro kit. For comparison in the UK the Stumpjumper 120 Expert is ÂŁ1899 ($3608)

Rip-off Britain

Just got off the phone to Adrenaline bikes. Apparently USA Yeti dealers have been told by Yeti they are no longer allowed to ship complete bikes to the UK, because the UK Yeti importers complained!

What a con! If the UK Yeti dealers adjusted their prices more into line with the USA, especially given the state of the dollar, perhaps they wouldn't lose as many sales to personal imports.

I am so pissed off at this. First of all the UK government tax imports to the hilt and when even that doesn't deter people, the'official' importers collude to stifle free trade.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
