It looks like CRC is not getting the Hope Pro 2 hub (in any color) in stock anytime soon, so I'm considering other options.

Anyone have experience with Shimano XTR M975 wheels, and how does these compare to a XTR hub & Mavic 819 build, or the Hope Pro 2 & Mavic 819 build I really want? Weight, stiffness, etc.?? I do mainly XC cycling on a hardtail and I weight 176 pounds (80kg). I want to run Kenda Nevegal 2.1 UST, or similar, tyres.

The XTR 975 rims are scandium so they're noticeably lighter than the 819's. XTR freehubs are OK, there have been issues with the freehubs skipping because of the grease in the pawls being too heavy, but they seem to have that sorted out in recent production (the past 12 months). I have 3 sets of XTR 975 wheels on 3 bikes and I weigh about 195 pounds, they've been great.

I hae a few sets of XTR hubs and Hope hubs. I think that the XTR is probably a better hub (I use the Hopes for 150 spacing and 20mm through axle).

The XTR wheelset will be lighter than XTR hub 819 combo.

How is the Shimano XTR wheelset compared to DT Swiss XR 1540 wheels? The DTs are a bit cheeper at CRC, but are they the same quality?

Are they both tubeless and how is the noice of the freehub? I read on the CRC site that the DT is very silent, which I like. Is the rim wide enough for a 2.1 tyre?

Any other brand/bulid I should concider?

Im coming to the end of my patience with faffing about with Stans liquid, rim strips and so on. Lifes too short.
Im currently using Stans Flow rims with King hubs and am considering changing to a UST rim to facilitate easier mounting of tyres.
The Mavic 819 rims look fairly heavy compared to XTR rims.
Would it be a good idea to just order up a set of XTR wheels, or should I have my king hubs built into XTR rims?
Im 230lbs.....would my heft be ok on these wheels. Im more of a fast xcountry type guy but like 2-3ft drop offs for a bit of fun.

CRC says the mavic rims aren't available outside the US.. does anyone know if you do a customer wheel and choose a mavic rim will they ship it to the US.
Yes. I bought a Pro II, Mavic 719 wheelset from Chainreaction about 3 months ago, and it said the same thing when I made my purchase.
