Can anyone give me a real weight of a Gravity Dropper Turbo?

I was looking for a real weight (with the remote and everything) of 75mm and 100mm gravity dropper turbo. I have seen a few posted ones, but they seem inconsistent.

I'm looking to purchase either the GD turbo or the KS i900-r.

I have seen the i900 at around 600 gr for the 125mm in version and 525 gr for the 75mm. The i900 has price and infinite adjustability going for it. But, it appears to weigh more and is more complex. I couldnt even find a manual on line for the i900. It does look better than the GD. But, I dont look at my seat while riding.

The GD is pricey, but seems rather simple and reliable. Spare parts and maint seem like no problem for the GD.

I'd post this in the Weight Weenie forum, but they banned me when I bought a sturdier seatpost that was a bit heavier.:D

Bwahahahahaaa :D
If there is no risk of castration or catastrophic failure the WW forum doesn't wanna talk about it.

It is raining cats and dogs here again. I actually threw my post on without taking a measure. I will pull it off this evening and post back

Okay, my post is stock (as delivered). It is a 375mm post with 1&4in drops. Weight is with all cable, lever, and hardware. I also included some other GD posts I have used. Honestly I thought the turbo was supposed to be lighter, but doesn't look that way. It really isn't too bad. I typically would run a good strong post anyhow, so the weight penalty of the GD is about 1/2lb. Worth it IMO. Still about the lightest of the drop posts and reliability in spades :D

2009 GD Turbo 25&100mm 375mm post: 520g
2007 GD Classic 75mm 410mm post: 522g
2006 GD Classic 75mm 350mm post: 480g

Thanks for the info.

I have contacted GD also. I will post back to what they reply with.

I'm looking at the Turbo version at 350 mm multi position with a 100 mm drop.

I was able to pick up slightly used 31.6 mm KS i900-r 125 mm from a guy that used it for 5 rides before he broke his frame (no warranty). He bought a Spec to replace it which is 30.9mm.

I'm probably going to pick up the GD anyway for design, weight, and maint reasons. I like things to work all the time without too much maint.

So the I900 will go on the classifieds soon.

You are too harsh. Thompson Masterpiece is well regarded there, and it as about sturdy as you can get.

People on Ax Lightness posts are regarded as freaks even there. And they should be.

Here is what I got from GD when I asked about he weight listed on their specs on the site:

"Those weights are actually old numbers and are no longer accurate, we have had to reinforce the post which added weight to the post the 350mm turbo now weights around 450g give or take a few grams and the classic weighs around 490 grams. This weight does not include the weight of the shim."

So about 450 gr for the 350 mm with 3 in drop and about 10 gr more (what he said in a prev email) for the 4 in drop.

I have seen similar numbers posted before as here-say. That 450g GD is an elusive critter :). I haven't seen photographic proof of existence in the wild.

One reason for extra mass on mine is likely the handlebar mount. I spec mine with the gripshift option which is taller and heavier. 70g is a fair amount of mass difference for 25mm of post length and a taller bar mount. Wonder if GD includes the boot in their weights.

Mine is coming in as follows:
350 mm with 4 in drop (multi position). The grip shift option on the left side.
I will have take a pic on the scale when it comes in. Lets hope its bellow 500 gr.

we have pics, GD 350 mm, multi pos, 4 in drop!!!!
w/o 31.6 shim

and with it

So, std for marketing, add 10% or so and you get the real weight. I did two rides with it already and am really happy with my purchase.

Cust Serv at Gravity dropper was top notch. They answered every question. And, set me up for my grip shift set up at the last minute. I did forget to tell them I wanted in the left side with downward actualtion. But, it fits fine on the right and work perfectly.:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Happy customer

So, all the adj seatposts seem to be close in weight. Its not as cool looking as the i900 or Joplin. But no side to side play or seat clamp issues. It looks a tad dorky, but I dont look at my bike riding.

Here it is mounted with grippies

(if you are wondering what the white stuff is under the clamp, its poor mans carbon assembly paste. Some call it tooth paste, but it works,:D)

Bummer, I was really hoping that yours would be closer to 450g claimed mark. Thanks for the follow through
Still puts it about 100g less than the lightest of the hydro versions IIRC

and yes, I was wonderin what that was under the clamp :)

That shim is at 54 gr is heavy too. I think USE shims are like 15 gr, but are Al. The one with the GD was a very solid steal.

I also use TI bolts on my seat clamp now. Too much rust in the winter. In early spring last year I went to take my seat off my Thomson post and broke the bolt. It was rusted to the nut :madman:

Interesting, I have never seen a steel sp shim. Mine came with a nice black anodized cane creek shim. I didn't weigh it. I think on the odd sizes they use wheel manufacturing shims (at least that's what I got for my bullit a 28.6mm post size).
