I'm headed to the Icycle for my first time. What should I expect? I hear it's a party. But haven't heard anything about the actual race. DH that is.
The DH is fast and fun singletrack up top and a pedally bottom section.
The top part is fun at speed and the darkness kicks it up a notch.
After the race, its a big keg party.

As far as what to expect:
I did my first Icycle 2 years ago with NO nightriding experience.
I got my light charged up and used it for the first time on my race run.
During my run, I went to lean into a high speed corner, and Cookie Monster leaned out from a big tree and started making Cookie Monster noises.

Last year during my run, I was heading down a steep chute into a big berm, and look up to see 4 drunk buddies lined up giving me an 8 asscheek moon row.
So yeah, welcome to Icycle.
Expect something.

Search the forum for previous years race stories & pics. A lot of "classy" information.

The Village used to be a virtual ghost town off-season and you had to bring just about everything, but you now have a place to eat and a full service bar. There's also an outdoor center and bike shop that should be open.

There are no stores or restaurants nearby if you need something special.

Be prepared for bad weather. 2006 was a good example: rain, sleet snow and cold. Classic Icycle. Last year was amazingly mild!

Hope everyone has a great time! Win one for the Home Team.
