I ride at the "rock" quite a bit. Although not the downhill craziness that Windrock is known for, but the ATV trails. I have truly enjoyed the challenge of the climbs and the technical skills needed to survive a day at the "rock". I did not think it could get much better, and right in my backyard. Until friday....I rode the race course (better part of the race course-took a wrong turn once-but found our way later)....we had a absolute blast!!! We started at the campground, which by the way, very nice!!! Loo met us as we were about to leave and gave us a run down of the course. The new single track is sweeeeeet!!! Flows very well, some awsome switchback burms. With some nice creek crosses as well. (the creeks are dried up) The campground side is fun to ride, better pay attention to what your doing.
Walden ridge is no joke, if you cant or dont like to ride rock gardens DONT SHOW UP!!!! These babies are a blast!! I cant count how many rock gardens you go thru but there is quite a few. The last mile or two of walden ridge is incredible!! Not to mention some great views.
I was very impressed with the progress that has been made with the mtb only trails. I have never rode either side of the mtns before. The "rock" is a great place to ride but you do have to share the trails with the jeeps/moto bikes. Not anymore...these trails are off the hook!! With more potential than you can imagine for mtb trails.
Also....if anybody does 4 laps...well lets just say you are a freakin beast!!!
