sorry fer the bump, but...

i'm about to go with this and have everything i need (have looked over rainman's blog, too...hence the question) except a valve core tool , cuz i never needed one before.

i know they're cheap as chips, but for changing the travel this way (i.e. w/out removing the lowers), do the cores need to come out?

Nope... you can do it without removing the cores, but just make sure that ALL the air is expelled from the legs BEFORE you pull them.

HTH,

I did mine last weekend using the Rainman protocol, minus a valve tool. Very easy, just make sure you let all the pressure out. Let it out, compress the fork and strap it, let it out again, etc. Also, be aware that if you leave the cores in, when you push the negative chamber valve up in to the lower, some oil will spurt out when the seal is broken. I got got a minor oil shower at that point. Other than that, no problem.

Does anyone know if you can convert a 2008 Reba Race from 80mm to 100mm? Is it the 2009 and newer with this capability?
I've got a Reba Race Dual Air from 2006 (GF Paragon) and it can be converted just fine. I had it apart to replace a leaky seal, and confirmed it has the spacer inside.

So, yes.

Just a quick note, I've done what DaveA suggested, and it was reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally easy. Much easier than the "conventional" way you can find on google.

Here's what I used.

1. Shock pump
2. Adjustable spanner
3. 10mm spanner
4. Small mallet
5. Long 6mm Allen key.

Did it with my RockShox Recon Gold TK to move from 80mm to 100mm travel. It was easy. About 30min to do. I just needeed to buy fork oil w15 for lower fork. Works fine.

Now my 2012 Carve 80mm travel is 100mm ;)

Does anyone know if a 2013 80mm Reba Solo RL can be converted to 100mm?

Looking to buy one off ebay, which has an 80mm sticker on it.

Thanks
