Just like the title. What is the biggest drop off to flat you've done on a hardtail?(that you landed) How much front suspension? I max out at about 5 foot with 4 inches of front susension, but barely land them....hurts the boys too....

Occasionally 8'(brick), regulary 6'(pavement & concrete)). Note; if you know what you are doing, it doesn't matter how much travel your fork has. I have done the 8 on my bmx. This GED from GF has 130 mil. When you are flat landing, go ahead and place the rear down first.

Didn't look like he landed that one to me. Looked like he ate it.

Trials riders are a breed of their own :p I respect their skills though. Pretty talented guys they are.
I don't consider that landing either.

Yesterday I did 4 foot from a stop off a flatbed truck...I came so close to going over the bars...probably cause I had no forward momentum

World record 4.55m (15ft) on a 20" trials bike, no suspension

flat drops are stupid.
I think landing it clean needs to a requisite. I mean technically, anybody could do that -- just gotta be stupid/brave enough.

My ankles hurt just from watching that video.

to flat is no big deal; it's all how smooth you are. in the vid it was a dead weight drop as there was no roll-out - that's just d-u-m. i regularly land 3' drops on my ss w/ a pace carbon fork.

i've done a couple 5'ers when i overshot the landing. i could never do it intentionally though, im a coward.

done a few in the 5' range, and more in the 3-4' size. landing more trials style/rear wheel first is key. smooth. 3' isn't too bad, but anything more than that i really have to think about. even smooth, it's more stress on your bike and body. really make sure you have your technique down, and scope out your landing area. practice on small stuff, work bigger.

i'm more comfortable on a slow speed wheelie drop like these than i am on a high speed transition landing drop, since the slow speed stuff is what i learned how to do first. soft terrain, is, obviously, kinder to the bike and body than is pavement/brick and so on.

yeah he didn't really land it, but it's been done before. This was just the only video I could find.

My usual rule with landing on the flat is : If I can jump off the thing and land on my feet then I can jump off it on my bike. If I don't think I can do that, then I don't do the jump.
