Ok, I've got this Trek 7.2FX that sits in my garage and collects dust. I would REALLY like to put some 29'er tires on it (700c wheels) and let it be my "extra" bike for the increasing number of people who seem to wanna come ride with me but only have their 15 year old Huffy with dry rotted tires. I am quite aware that it's not gonna withstand any type of hucking whatsoever, but the people who would be borrowing it would be riding a 45 lb POS anyway. I figure it will at least be a safer alternative. I love exposing people to the sport, but I really get nervous when they haul out these deathtraps to the trailhead. Thoughts?

Well then Cletus........

...............best thing then is throw the 29er tyres on there and take it for a spin, see if it feels safe. :madman:

This is the wheel/tire board, not can my hybrid take a beating off road board. It is also not the question you asked.

If you have doubts that it can survive, then do not do it.

Think you replied to the wrong post there Shiggy :???: I didn't ask anything :eek:ut:
