I just bought a 06 MKIII comp for my little bro as a gift. I got a 19inch it seemed to fit me just fine as I am 5'11 with a 31inch inseam. My brother just just a bit shorter then me. Will the 19 fit him or I am going to have to go looking for a 17. I got one on close out for 1100.

Leo

Thanks for the help in advance

nice brother you are

Size Min Height Max Height
15" 5'6"
17" 5'7" 5'10"
19" 5'11" 6'1"
21" 6'2"
Sorry, gotta disagree on this. First of all, any frame sizing guide without overlap is flawed to begin with. According to this guide, someone at 5' 10-1/2" is too tall for the 17" and too short for the 19". The only other interpretation would be that at 5' 10-7/8" the 17-inch frame is the clear choice because he doesn't meet the "minimum" height "required" for the 19-inch frame.

The Randall Scott sizing guide for the MKIII is more realistic, but I would personally add even more overlap. For example, I would say the 17-frame should max at 5' 10" and leave the 19-inch starting point at 5' 9". There is too much personal preference involved, as well as folks with disproportionate bodies to be too cut and dry.

this is not to be exact and no sizing is b/c people are different length and sizes...from arms to legs but it is a guide....should you buy a bike by looking at this chart or another chart ....no but it gives you an idea
I agree. I just think it's off even as a guide. 5' 11" is too high a starting point for the 19". I'm at least the second person in this thread at 5" 10" that finds the 19" MKIII a great fit.

A better guide takes those factors into account:

But one of the best ways to get an idea is to find out what size other MK owners ride. Comes down to personal preference though!
