Nothing is set in stone yet, but I am guessing the format will be similar to last year: Thurs and Fri in the St George area, Sat and Sun in Moab, maybe Mon and Tues in Fruita. Barny and I would be happy to lead a few people on a charge around Losee/Casto/Cassidy/Thunder up around Bryce too. The main changes seem to revolve arount trying to be more cohesive and organized socially in the evenings rather than wandering in 10 different directions as soon as the rides are over. DT was hoping for perhaps more but shorter rides like Slickrock and Bartlett in a day. I'm down with whatever.

Thanks for the update........Is saturday still gonna be the Warner Lake down or Burro Pass? That is likely my only day with the group riding, we'll see with the wife along. Though a slickrock or Bartlett day could be good fun as you mention. Eves would be nice if we all knew about 1 week ahead to meet some place for eats all together....Zaks or somewhere big enough to handle it.
I am looking forward to the much needed rest time out there, I am ready for it......right about now.
I believe this is your picture Tscheezy.

Nobody takes reservations at restaurants in Moab since they can fill all the tables they want with walk-ins, and large groups are generally huge pains in the ass for them. If we want a big gathering we should order 20 pizzas (or 5 pizzas from 4 different places :) ) and take over a park or reserve a conference room at a hotel (I prefer the park idea).

I bet lots of folks would like to do Warner Lake down again. That was a lot of fun. You just can't expect to stay as a group. If we can find leaders for a few different rides on other days, we could all split up like they do at the Arizona Spring Fling.

i think thats bobs pic. one of my faves, if not the best, from THC '06. the enchalada breakfast is a must do and id like to see that done on the 1st day in moab, personally. id be more than willin to lead a mid-slow group that day.

there was talk of a bbq as well as the pizza party. im diggin the park plan but whats the rules on beer? maybe its better to reserve a campground out in the sticks or get the local hook up on a place we can hang out and not get hassled by the man. a comped room at the hotel would be easyest but kinda sterile.

The Margarita protocol definitely needs some buffing up.:D If folks are planning to camp, there are several nice group sites along the Colorado River that would accomodate up to 25-30 people, but you have to reserve them pretty far in advance. There's also a small park on Mill Creek in "downtown" Moab that I think has BBQ grills and plenty of shade that could also be a rendezvous point for a group party w/o requiring everyone to coordinate too much on where they all plan on camping/sleeping. The bigger the group the slower everything takes, so I think having multiple ride options and a general "hope to see you there at 9:00 am" format is a way better idea rather than trying to ride as one big hoard. Assuming I don't break any bones this year, I may even get to ride with some of you guys.

My plans are up in the air right now for the Moab stretch, but for the St. George stretch, I propose we come back to my place after the rides on Thursday for some Carne Asada, swimming and Hot tub. My wife has requested Speedo's only. Thursday morning I propose we ride Gooseberry Mesa. We can eat lunch in Hurricane afterwards, and then head back up the high way to shuttle JEM/Hurricane Rim. This is a very short shuttle, with a nice long ride attached to it. After that we can head back to my place to chill and swim. BYOB of course, but I'll provide the food. Friday morning we can do LIttle Creek, Slickrock Swamp, or whatever the group wants. I also have a nice 13 mile figure 8 mapped out over on Barrels/Zen we can do. As the date grows closer we will need to get a firm headcount for this stretch.

We need someone who is solid on the Moab leg to call up and reserve the shuttle for us for Porc on Saturday. I've become soured on Coyote shuttle service recently, after the way they treated Sanchez last April, but that's just me. Poison Spider can also accomodate our group, and in much more comfortable and reliable vans.

Sept 27-28 St George (Gooseberry, Little Creek Mesa, JEM, Barrels, Bearclaw Poppy, Zen, etc)
Sept 29-30 Moab (Porcupine, Amasa Back, Slickrock, Bartlett, etc.)
Oct 1-2 Fruita (18-Road, Kokopelli Loops, Lunch Loops, etc.)

There are alternates available if folks want to split up or hit some amazing trails on the drive to or fro, and do something adventurous like the Bryce rides I mentioned above.

Awww... Interbike isn't over until the 28th. Move that sucka two days to start on the 29th/30th!

Puhlease? I'll even borrow a Turner to ride if you do.

But if it's set in stone, there will be a group of us occupying the Springdale/Hurricane area for four or five days after IB if anybody can't/won't make the trip to Moab and Fruita.

El C- don't own a speedo... how about white Virenque KOM Quickstep/Davitamon bibs rolled up really high?:D

The floor show is boring and Turner hasn't bothered with a booth recently, so it hasn't seemed like an issue to skip a bit of IBike for the THC. Barny and I will be flying back out of Vegas on Oct 6, so if anyone wants to ride after the THC in the direction of Bryce and St. G, we're game. :) I know a lot of the trails in that area very well.

Did the development cease after the inventor incurred too much brain damage during testing?
