Finished building the Sultan last night and took it for the inagural ride. Ventanarama's scale was acting up but the last weight we got before it went on the fritz was just over 27 lbs
I'm still waiting on wheels so I took the front green I-9 from my SS and Larry had a spare rear wheel for me to use while I wait.

First impressions:
F'Yeah !!!!!!! This bike is a rocket. I flew up the loose techy hill that requires me to grunt in the granny on my Terremoto or scream in agony on my SS 29er. I added an ounce of Torco 7 to the fork right off the bat because I was able to bottom it easily in the shop. After adding fluid I have to say that this fork may work out OK. It's going to take some fine tuning and still needs a bit more compression damping but it really ain't that bad and is significantly stiffer than my 29er Reba. Compared to my friend's 4" Ventana El Rey, Sultan feels a lot plusher and has more of a trailbike (as opposed to XC) feel. But, to be fair, Sultan has the large air can, the longer travel TA fork and bigger rubber. The bike feels stiff in the corners but hit off-camber rocks at speed and I'm reminded that this is a 4"29er and not a 6" travel 26" bike.
For those interested, I'm 5'10" with a 31.5" inseam and standover is an inch & a half. The large would likely be too big for me.
More talk later. Here's some Sultan porn, swimsuit edition
