ok so one of my friends has a specialized p2 frame. he also has the handlebars and fork..which dont look in the greatest condition but he only wants $70 for it.
is it worth it to buy it?
and would it be possible to to a good or at least decent build up with only about $500?
if yes can u help me out with the parts list.
i want it basically really urban..with just the one gear, disk breaks, etc.

go for it, the frame and fork are the two places where you'll spend the most money on a budget build, 70 bucks is a steal if they aren't too trashed.
(hell, my budget build is looking to come in at about 450, 200-250 of which will be fork, but I'm getting picky and wanted more of an AM fork that I can simply dial down for urban stuff. don't quite have the money for a pike just yet, that'll have to wait a lil longer :) )

Parts wise, I'd keep a lookout for people selling used stuff locally, good way to get decent components cheap, especially with fully built bikes, then you can sell the parts you don't need and the frame to help recoup some of your losses.
CL, Pinkbike, ridemonkey are great, and I've been able to find some cool stuff on less internet-oriented local classifieds.
