Looks pretty good Pinky. Does the purple on the frame match exactly to the ano hubs? I ask as I know how hard it is to capture colours accurately on film or digitally dpending on the material. Paint itself looks very well done  Can see that you slightly "squashed" the logo.
It's close , we took the colour card and the hub outside in the sun to get a close match when I bought the paint. The ano changes depending on what light it's in though, in shade its a nice deep purple but in the sun its heading towards pink !. And like you said , it's hard to capture the colour accurately with a camera. Anyway , at the end of the day , the hubs and the logo aren't close together so it's hard to make an accurate comparison by eye.

Thanks for the comments guys , can't wait to go and get it dirty !

 I've got a set of silver bullet looking ones, they're great, unfortunately my new bike came with presta tubes so I'll be running with those and not using the caps :(

Never would have guessed that such a little thing started it all. I reckon it will look fantastic by the time you're done.

Actually Energetix you can still use those valve covers on the shock and fork :D I have Red ano ones on both my shock and fork valves :D

Ahhh I didn't think of that! The ones I have a cheapies though - and they're pretty long so would stick out too much on the shock. The fork - well can't really use it on the top of the leg - and the bottom only has the rebound adjuster (Tora 318). Still keep them for the future - there must be a fork upgrade some time donw the track!

You should firstly know that the only other fork I had was a "01 Judy TT, so not really a comparison to set the benchmark.
I think the fork is great - it works, I use around 85% of the travel on normal non eventful riding, and can use 99% (but have never bottomed out etc) when I've had a go at some small jumps or an odd drop (2ft or less).
It has the good stuff like motion control, and poploc (but next time around I'd probably leave it at a leg mounted lockout rather than handlebar remote)
Looking at the rock shox website the weight is not that much higher than most forks up a level from it - so if I was to go for anything different it would be to get more travel / save weight / more adjustments.
Coming from a very basic fork this one is perfect for me - not too many dials to fiddle with and confuse mylself. I'm sure there are other more plush forks out there, for the money I would say you can't really go past the Tora though.
I'm thinking of removing the travel spacer (if I have a go at servicing it myself) to see out of curiosity more than anything what it's like with 130mm.

Just not that if you ever need to get a complete rebuild done (bushings etc) then it's likely to be more worthwhile buying a whole new fork (going by how much it would cost for the service - here in Oz anyway).

Damn I can't belive you don't know what to do with it - Get it ano'd the same purple to match the hubs. That would totally complete off the look of the bike. Looks very sweet now, but with the ano'd or painted purple chain guide it would be super sick.

We're on the same page there Lynx. Thats one of the ideas floating around. I don't know if you remember those old AC chainrings , they were about 5mm thick and had lots of holes in them. Thats sort of what I'm thinking for the bashy , less the teeth of course , and in purple anodised 5mm alum. The holes apart from being the weight weenie factor , would break up the large surface area , so as not to make it too much purple in one spot. Either that or an E13 clear bashy , but they're everywhere. I'd like to be a bit different !

42hz , here's a before photo....

Why not just get that bash/chain guard ano'd? Looks like a pretty good part to me - I don't know $hit about DH/FR stuff. Keep us posted on what you decide, but decide/do something 'cause it looks so sweet now and you've put in so much work don't just leave it there w/ that small thing left to do to make it super pimped :D

Oh thought I'd tag this on......... I plan on also painting my Trance when it turns 3 years old or hits 10k miles whichever comes first - on 5,300+ right now should end out the year around 6K and that'll be 2 months short of having it 2 years. Unfortunately I will prob get carried away in the paint dept and do something fancy - I'm an artist and pretty handy with an airbrush so I can't help myself.

It's just that I think putting big holes (roughly 20mm ) in that 3mm thick alum will make it too weak , thats why I want to make another one from 5mm alum. Plus I can keep riding the bike while the new bashy is getting anodised , thats about a 2 week turnaround. You're right though , I should get onto it pronto , otherwise I'll procrastinate and keep saying "yeah I'll do it soon".....never happens then !

Awesome , I'll look forward to seeing you're work , sounds promising. Damn , you do some miles Lynx....6000 in less than 2 years !!! I tip my hat to you , thats impressive.

im thinking of doing a STP build 2pac'd in white and was wondering how to do the decals?

does anyone know if i can print the logo on tissue paper and clear coat over it, kinda like they do for surfboards??

G

Hey Pitto a place like this:

http://www.stickerart.com.au/

May be what you're after. I had a custom car sticker done by him once, basically give him details (font, size etc). Transfer the letters (comes in a template so you don't have to physically do one letter at a time and worry about spacing them) and you would probably clear coat over the top for better durability.

Worth checking out anyway, and I'm sure you can probably send him a template of what you wanted to use.
I'm not sure if vinyl stickers are suitable for bikes, but I don't see why not. Cost me about $50 for a big one to do a rear window of the car so pricing seemed pretty reasonable to me.

i was looking more into how surfboards are done, they use a tissuepaper decal that gets placed on the board before the clearcoat gel gets put on, when the resin goes down, the tissuepaper absorbes it and "disappers" leaving only the artwork showing thru. i was hoping i could do the same with 2pac clear on a bike frame, that way the decal will endure more opposed to a vinyl cut sticker.

Much like the Giant logos on our bikeframes are at the moment.

Sounds like a very interesting method. I figured vinyl may not be quite what you were after but posted just in case.
Don't really know of tissue paper methods or other methods that would produce the desired (and very thin) result.

Someone is bound to know though!
