This recent incident happened about a block from my house.

"Nations has a long criminal history, including threatening hikers with a hatchet near Mount Herman in the Palmer Lake area in 2017.

Nations was also questioned by the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office in connection with the shooting death of Timothy Watkins, also on Mount Herman in 2017, but he was never arrested."

Let's hope there is a habitual offender enhancement from the DA's office. Those tend to significantly increase sentence lengths in Colorado.
I'm betting he claims self defense.

Seems like this guy might be connected, or be a snitch or something. No way anyone with a rap sheet like that should be out walking around among us.

.

So he runs over and almost kills a guy(on video) and the judge gives him a $25K bond and he apparently posted it and is out, with his history? Kinda scary he's been living here all this time who knows what other kinda sh!t he's gotten away with in the last 8 years

I mean, he might claim it...but that's almost always a non-starter for a felony hit and run unless something extraordinary happened. But, on the other side of the coin, you have to take a 3 minute read new article with some caution, there is no information on the victim (weapons, etc...). I mean, there really isn't much information in the article at all. "Confronting" someone can be aggressive or not. El Paso county doesn't have a reputation for being light on prosecution when it doesn't need to be. Talking here from 20 years law enforcement in Colorado. Of course, things are different than 20 years ago too...so just need to see what shakes out from the investigation.

For those of you that are lucky enough to not have been close to this whole mess, this article is a good summary:

Amongst a bunch of other really disturbing things, there is this:

"Additionally, detective Jason Darbyshire of the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office told Outside that Nations had acted aggressively during a road-rage incident in Monument around the same time. Nations “got out of his vehicle, confronted another driver, and ended up kicking and breaking their windshield,” Darbyshire said, adding that the incident “escalated very quickly.” "

The complete lack of law enforcement in the area always blows my mind. My wife and I loved Palmer Lake. We loved the trails there.

But, I didn't like having to explain to my wife, a college professor, "That's incoming fire." In El Paso County, the locals' complete disregard for anyone else is something I've never experienced anywhere else in the country.

Google tells me the following:

"If an inmate search result indicates "no bond," it means that the judge has decided not to set a bail amount for that individual. This means the person will remain in jail and cannot be released until the judge changes their decision or the case concludes. This status is also referred to as a "no bond hold". "

Yeah sad it took another death to get this guy in jail. The news story says the judge set a 25K bond when he was arrested after the incident, someone commented on the story and said he bailed out but maybe since the guy died and he had a hearing yesterday he's back in jail?

Are yall new to Colorado? This guy isnt going to jail. Almost no one goes to jail here. He purposely ran someone over with his car giving that person life threatening injuries and he is out the next day on a small bond, that isnt an accident.
