Love the Ripmo AF - the Ripley AF build specs leave a lot to be desired. I wonder why they have cheaped out on some parts at that price point. 933 Aluminum Rims are an interesting departure from the i35 wheels of past. It feels like the Ripley AF build spec cuts some corners.

Good catch. I also see that the Ripley comes with SRAM G2 R brakes on the Deore build. I would have liked to see at least DB8 brakes or Deore 4 piston like on the Ripmo AF. Also kinda annoyed about the weird size + mullet combos but that was true of the carbon models too, and that's just a "me" problem.

Is my riding area (mid-Atlantic usa) unique that having that downtube bump out would be horrible? I am thinking logs, and large rock stepups?
That definitely looks really strange. My guess, though, is that IRL it's not that big of a deal, since usually whenever you're doing a maneuver like that, your pedals are pretty much horizontal and so you'd probably already be hitting your pedals on anything you'd hit that down tube on. At least that's my thought.

Feel bad for Ibis - launch new bikes, raise the price 12% over past model builds while past Ripmo AF models are sitting unsold for $2475. Really worth $1000 more for slightly revised geo?
I don’t think it’s poorly priced at all. Updated look (old one was ugly AF), geo, suspension kinematic. Looks dope.

It's better than the last one just like the next one? I haven't done a side-by-side comparison, but 🤷‍♂️. I'm sure there'll be more info by the time these go on sale.

FWIW if your kook tolerance is high, Loam Ranger put out a vid, too. Same geo as the current Ripmo and there's a Ripley AF as well, but he gave no real info on that one.

$3500 seems like a solid deal to me. Components aren't top tier, (as you'd expect at that price) but aren't crap either. Compared to the old AF's, frames look gorgeous, have better geo and a completely dialed suspension design. If I was shopping for a new trail bike right now, these bikes would be at the top of my list.

id easily own the AF framed model - especially if weight is so comparable.... I do think interesting - Rockshox suspension bits - and I think that will make it a better riding version - in retrospect the Float X made for a pretty compromised bike. RS SDU or Vivid air - way better.
