Dodging traffic this year takes a lot more effort than past years. I basically just ride I-90 trails by 7am and make sure I am heading back to Snohomish county by 1pm. And I don't bother with Sundays. Add in various freeway closures and race events and it starts to take some creativity.

The only after work riding I do is Lord Hill and even that is tough midweek. I might have to add Galbraith to the after work routine.

But the abundance here makes it worth it. People drive a whole lot longer for much worse trails.
That is usually the case. Sunday was worse than usual. Freeway closures plus accidents on I-90 created chaos. What is typically a 1 hr drive was 3hr and that was with creativity on roads I'm familiar with. Today I-5 north was closed this afternoon at exit 206 all the way to exit 210 and had an 8 mile backup due to a fire at the exit 208 ramp, a fire at the rest area, and a fire just north of the bridge before exit 210. The side roads that parallel the freeway were packed from locals trying to bypass the freeway parking lot.

No Joke is so damn fun.
I rode 7 year war and 7 more. Delayed Fuse.
Original Sin. And some blue trails. I went up from Creekside to avoid paying for parking. I’m beat, but it was a great time.
That's no rock roll. It's a dinosaur skull. :geek:

Pro tip, if you ride Lord Hill, its way more pleasant from the north parking lot. The one off of Old Snohomish-Monroe Road.

On the south lot, you have to do a big climb, and start on the opposite side of the park as all the fun bike trails.

I was out of town last week, but if you're bored and want to try again, I'm around for evening rides for the next week or two ;).
Nice! The farm is 10 min from that enterance 😎

Looks like I'll be in Mount Vernon and available to ride anywhere semi-close from October 8-13 (ish) if anyone is interested in meeting up.
Have you ridden little mountain? Only one trail there is really worth riding (IMO), and the skill park isn't amazeballs, but pitch n roll is a fun trail, and shuttleable too (which is a good thing, as its one of the steeper climbs I've been on, in terms of vert per mile).

I just did some quick checking on the topo maps. Looks like you start at ~almost zero ft of elevation bythe river, and have to climb a minimum of ~400ft to reach the bottom (end) of the trails there. While thats not a crazy climb, it really irritates me to waste that much vert on the way back to the car, as there really isn't much on that south side for bikes.

For reference, from the north lot, you start at ~400ft of elevation. Which makes it wayyy easier.

Slabs on Dark Crystal yesterday were too fun.
STAHP, it looks too fun!

Glad you're having a great time up there. Even though I'm jealous, I must insist on more photos :).

ANd your story about eating gross leftovers, reminds me of a super weird roommate I had back in college.

He would premake his food for like 2-3 weeks at a time (rice, beans, broccoli, and some chicken usually). That wasn't the weird part, the weird part was he would leave it uncovered in the fridge. As it got older/crustier, he kept adding more and more ranch dressing to it in an attempt to make it edible. He also never warmed it up (instead eating it cold) and would frequently talk to himself as he ate it saying things like "I HATE THIS CRAP" <chomping noises> "THIS STUFF IS THE WORST" <chewing, and the sound of more ranch dressing>.

Super weird guy.

Little Mt is a super easy climb if you take the road. I hate climbs and this is the one place I do mulriple laps. It is true that only 1 trail is worth it and while the skills park is getting some love, its just not much of anything. There are some shhhh trails off the back side that are supposed to be really good but you'd need a local to show you where they are and its a bit of a ride back via the main road.
