Oh yeah, I’ve learned that my comfort range is greater with an e-bike. If it’s really cold out or if it’s raining, I can dress appropriately without having my body heat being as much of a factor. You know how when you’re sweating like mad no waterproof/breathable jacket is really breathable enough to expel vapor? It’s not necessarily as much of a problem when you have a motor. When it’s hot as hell out I stay more comfortable too.

I hadnt thought about that but yeah in general i agree.

I did have an instance recently when i was too cold on the E. I had under dressed and it was about 5°c doing this road climb before hitting the bush was brutal at full E speed. U turned down the power and rode with minimal assistance to slow the speed, reduce the wind chill and get some body heat going sooner.

You definitely want to stay cozy. That's what it's all about. Anything but "feel the ride"

I literally provided most of those reasons in my comment...you missed my point (which was too the other guy, not really you, since I didn't see your original post and didn't know if you provided context). Popping in with nothing but a statement that "I don't like 'X'" without context is just dumb. Adds nothing to a discussion and is almost always intentionally "passive aggressive".

Riding a SS doesn't mean a damn thing in context of ebikes...I've been single speeding for over 20 years and my SS is still my favorite bike EVER in @ 45 years of riding. Yet I still love my Orbea Rise M10 because it allows me to do one thing I can't on my SS or my Yeti SB 5.5...ride when I am exhausted from lifting weights.

And let's be real...anyone coming onto public forums to share their opinion absolutely cares on some level what other people think...if we didn't, why would we contribute to forums?
Unless said person was trolling … and caught a whopper 🤣

… and no, I don’t give a flying eff what anonymous internet people think, do you?

I do think it’s funny how many fluff threads folks start these days, bored I guess 🤔

It's a bike or an eBike. The invention of a new product doesn't change the name pre existing products.
Of course I spent hours trying to think of an exception (cuz that’s how my brain works). All I got was:

There was Coke then New Coke came along and suddenly Coke became Coke Classic.

Phewwww! My work is done. 🤪

Good example. Marketing Departments do some weird stuff, just ask Anheuser-Busch.

What did they call acoustic guitars before electric guitars were invented?

They're both guitars, and the name changed to better reflect how they work, much in the same way that bikes aren't just bikes anymore. The advent of the ebike has necessitated the need for a differentiator in the name of non-ebikes - analog, acoustic, amish, etc. The better question is: Why do they all start with A?

I suspect this non-stop objection to a modifier being added to "bike" is that proponents of traditional bicycles feel they're somehow de-valued by a change in the name, and that's just not the case. Although, I suppose it's possible that some people might argue acoustic guitars aren't as cool as electric, and some of us might think the same about bikes. 😅

This will make minds blow...what is this guitar?

ha ha ha.

This is a big deal for me. I have some issues and my heart rate should not to exceed about 165bpm. With the current heat, on my standard mtb, riding with a group on single track, I used to not go because I would have to stop and let my heart rate drop, even if I still had more in the tank. People would sometimes stop to wait or check on me, and I don't want that for them. The emtb allows me to do the rides to the full duration, keep up, and my rate is usually in the 140s because I am pushing and the trails are very tight.

FYI, with an ebike, my HR is much lower climbing (easy to stay around 140) but it spikes up on fun downhills (160 and above).

My heart rate is the same. EBike or normal bike. In boost it's super easy for me to hold my heart rate at 175+. Max for me is around 186 bpm.

Muscular effort is where the difference is.
