The Specialized Turbo Creo 2...

I quite fancy dipping my little toe into the ebike pond but when it comes to the MTBs all seem to be trail/enduro types and I'm not a big offroader. Therefore, I've been looking at gravel bikes instead and find this one interesting. I have a question, though...

1. Does it have any obvious and capable rivals I should be looking at?

I had to google it.

I'll see you creo and raise you a velduro.

Now serious question from a man who already owns an e-bike. What is the point of an E road or gravel bike other than commuting to work to not get sweaty?
I thought the main point of road and gravel was fitness miles. My logic for an E is to get more dh laps in, in a location where I don't have bike park nearby.

Is it to adventure further than you normally would in the same time?

Funny, I just picked up my Creo 2 Comp yesterday.

@simonali19 There are a few competitors. I test rode a Orbea Denna M31. I liked that a lot but the wait time is about 3 months. It is powerful (85nm) and the design is clean. Canyon Grizl On is another, but I was not comfortable with DTC brands for an ebike. ( note that I bought a Spot hardtail). many are more road oriented than the Creo 2. That Veduron looks cool with the DJI motor.

Plummet, per your question... my rational, same as you get more miles in, whether that is completing a full loop (mellow trails....I have to drive to ride any trails (from both work and home) so gravel eBike allows me to cover more of the trail or ride from my house on the road to mellow trails near me. First ride yesterday was an hour and 10 and I covered 19 miles near my house before the sun set. only saw one other rider on the trail section, and he was fast, on a cyclocross bike. we rode side by side and chatted and it was all uphill - he was a machine. I could have never done that on any of my other MEpedal bikes.

I'm a bit of a born again cyclist (several times over!) and, at nearly 60, am struggling a little with both hills and distance. I'd like to be able to add a bit of both to my current rides which seem to top out at about 30 miles, if they're flat. I've no interest in full on MTB/bike park type stuff at my age, yet don't enjoy riding on the road either. I just think adding some e-assistance will help me go a bit further?

I do need to lose some weight, which will help, but I still work a full time job, so getting out on my bike is only a once or twice a week occurence. Not enough to burn off the gut

I have seen that Velduro before. Not the best looking bike mefinks.

Weirdly, I did almost buy an Amflow a while back but the shop blew me off at the last minute and I pulled out. They claimed they opened the box and it had the wrong bike in it, which I was very suspicious of. Ended up spending a similar amount on an analogue bike instead.

I bought the Creo as a 59th birthday present to myself. Also need to lose many pounds.
I suggest test riding a few different brands. I want to increase my road mileage too. I will have to get or convert one from another bike to a more road specific wheelset. I see are in the UK and e-assist is limited to 20mph in a lot of EU...I recently read a review of the Creo 2 and they said it was not worth it for only 20mph vs. 28mph in the US. That said it could still give you the extra boost you are looking for.

I could totally see an e gravel bike helping with some of the gnarly hills around here that I still struggle going up on my zone 2 days even with mtb gearing, also to keep up with traffic so when I get hit by a car/truck from behind it’ll be more like a firm push than an absolute explosion of internal organs

It's 25kmh (15mph) in Europe, which is the reason most people here get remaps/chips. I have to admit that is one thing that puts me off the idea altogether and was the attraction of the Amflow, as that can be "mapped" just using a region hack. 15mph is about as fast as I can go on the flat anyway, though!

Another option in this general area is the Santa Cruz Skitch. You can get it outfitted as a mountain bike (flat handlebar, suspension fork, dropper), or you can get it as a standard road/gravel bike (curly bars, rigid fork and seat post).

I like everything about the Skitch except for the Fazua motor.

The Mahle/Specialized motor is one of the more reliable motors out there (no belt)

I say do it. Looks like a lot of fun.

Won't ever givE up on my peddle bike foe any battery driven bike to me it defeats the purpose of riding a mountain bike 😎
That opinion is not allowed, even if you only apply it to yourself and aren't telling anyone else how to feel or act. Prepare to get nuked!

Nice victim complex 3D

I remember about 10 yrs ago, when e-bikes weren't even on my radar. I would occasionally wander into the new e-bike forum and Anytime someone would post there would be a furious purist pile-on on the hapless poster. Things have shifted 180 degrees.

Warms my 💙

And for God's sake Trouble, Tribble whatever yer name is, if you're going to go on the offense, dial it in...tighten it up.

Gotta come with the A game - it's pedal, not peddle.

^this^ Hill and distance. I'll be 62 in a couple of weeks. I've done several 3-5 day rails to trails rides with consecutive days of 70+ miles. I can't do that anymore. My bucket list includes riding the GAP/C&O and George Mickelson trails, but those are now impossible for me without e-assistance.
Fair enough. Enjoy the riding and have fun.
Gravel ain't my jam, But I don't begrudge anyone if its there's.

Well thanks for the free quack telehealth services. I don't need them though.
