It's a fancy machete for firewood and stuff. It's titanium, has a good balance for hacking, and the saw back seems pretty effective.

Thats what all the "crop" managers say its for "firewood and stuff"......

Where are all the ... riders?
  • fixies
  • V-brakes
  • 26" wheels with tires no wider than 1.3"
  • Brookes Saddle made before 1984
  • tubes only
  • toe-clips
As for myself:
Only must haves are
Crank Brother’s clipless pedal system

Desires included (but are not limited) to

Shimano brakes and group sets
Chris King hub-based wheels

Everything else seems negotiable.

For trail/enduro FS bikes:

180mm min dropper post insertion (I'm 5' 8")
No headset cable routing
Mullet
Carbon wheels
Coil shock
One Up carbon bar
Ergon GFR1 factory grips
TRP DHR brakes/rotors
77-78° STA
~460mm reach/~600mm ETT/435-440mm CS
Conti/Schwalbe radial gravity casing tires
165mm cranks
SRAM XO1 12spd, mechanical or AXS

All bikes have:

DT Hubs
WTB Rocket V Saddles
SRAM AXS Eagle drivetrain
Maxxis EXO+ MaxTerra tires
RaceFace Next SL Cranks & Seatposts
Fox suspension front and rear
Wheels Manufacturing Threaded BB's (I won't buy a bike with a pressfit BB)
Ergon GA2 grips
Cane Creek 110 headsets

Also chose frames that only have threaded BB's and similar headtube sizes so that I can interchange forks

Interesting thread. What always ends up on my bikes these days:
120mm max or rigid
High engagement rear hub
Sliding dropouts
2.6 to 3.0 tires
Bontrager XR Elite grips
Crankbros Eggbeaters
"Juicy" Sram brakes
min. two water bottle mounts

I've use Time pedals since the mid 90's, love their float and the ease of release. Ergon saddles, I bought a bike equipped with one and now I put them on most every bike. Small diameter grips, I have big hands but prefer the smaller grips, typically around they are around 33mm diameter, but I'm not really particular to brand, just whatever feels good. Short travel dropper seatpost, I have a 170mm on my enduro bike, but never use the full length. My XC bike uses a 100mm dropper.

Dropper
Overbuilt and tuned suspension (shockcraft, avy, push whatever you choose)
Coils suit my riding perfectly no matter the travel
DT hubs (240 or 350)
Nobl hoops
Over braked is the new over biked
165mm cranks
SPD, will probably never ride flats

My personal standards are based on years of trust.
Fox suspension- consistent performance and I have always received good support when I have issues
Maxxis tires- I know they work
Selle italia saddles- they are what I am use to

I generally run Shimano but I have run SRAM and it wasn't horrible

I try everything but rarely end up using anything Shimano. Not because I have a strong opinion but I have SRAM components on so many things that it just makes it easier for maintenance. That and Shimano deciding that innovation is an afterthought puts them behind for me. Other than that, if someone releases something even remotely interesting I'll do my best to try it. That includes Shimano. There are no scared cows in my MTB life. As I mentioned in another thread, given a choice, I'll always pick certain companies where all other things are equal, e.g. Leatt.
I am definitely in a similar situation using Shimano. An accumulation of tools and time wrenching on Shimano parts makes me comfortable with it. To start working with SRAM would be like learning a new language. I could do it. But the exposure to another tribes innovative ideas would likely cause a total breakdown of workshop culture. It would be anarchy. Pure anarchy.
