How would you rate the side wall support from the Conti Trail carcass vs the 120tpi Maxxis Exo carcass please ?

Looking forward to the same comparison of the Race carcass too ;)
I would say the Conti trail carcass felt on par with the Maxxis Exo carcass. It did not feel paper thin like an old S-Works tire would feel.

I wanted to jump in on this Conti Dub 2.4 tires - Race / Grip compound. Digital calipers read 2.3inchs with 30mm internal rims. Was extremely disappointed by this, the volume seems on par with 2.2 Race kings.. I ride in rocky / hard pebbly dirt. I found these tires were scary to corner hard on. Breaking was non existence on the large rock rolls/ Super steep dirt downs. If I was on hero dirt all day and rode on perfect conditions these things would be amazing. But they were off the back at the same speed as they were put on and are for sale. Just my 2cents.
What front tire were you using before trying the Dub 2.4 Race/Grip compound tire?

Home Depot kicked my ass out after I tried to get money back for those 2x4s.
The lumber industry has "nominal" in its definition. 2x4s measure 1.5x3.5. They aren't between 1.5 and 2. They are 1.5.

If you buy a steel 2x4 it is 2 inches by 4 inches though. So that's fun.

I really don't think it's unreasonable for manufacturers to provide real world measurements and not made up fantasy land.

Well that certainly doesn't seem very promising at all. I am curious, if you still have them in hand, what is the country of origin stamped on the sidewall?

Made in Germany, And yes I was disappointed. Back to Recon Race front / Rear. I would say the Mezcal / Barzo combo is between the Recon Race pair and these Conti Dubs

One persons opinion. I have them on my bike and think they ride great. My favs for the last couple seasons have been the XC/RC. Personally think the peyote washes out too easy and are heavy, Ricks are fast and gripp well but are boat anchors. The race/rapid and trail/rapid Dubs both seem to have plenty of grip, roll fast, and are on the lighter side (620 and 710). The Dubs measure out to about 59.8 on 30mm inner rims based on my calipers.

I was hoping Conti magically found a way to maintain the rolling speed of the RK while adding more grip, but also still interested to see how the Trinotal does as a set and forget tire that is suitable for most XC conditions, and light duty trail riding.

Maybe I'm just being petty, but the names of these tires are also a major marketing flub if you asked me. As an EDM fan I keep thinking of dubstep and Tritonal, and c'mon...the Mountain King, Cross King, and Race King names were absolutely iconic.

Let's agree collectively here, to call them Race King II, Cross King II or Mountain King II.

Also Racekingnital, Crosskingnital or Mountainkingnital would sound silly :p

I contact schwalbe for a refund because mine 2.4 Rick xc are like 2.25 haha! But they don’t want to share their tolerances. I need to send it back so they can measure them under high pressure and at the widest spot.
I am very curious what you hear back. hopefully they don't come back with - "When we measured at 55 psi on our i40 rims. Everything was fine."

How strong/thick is dubnital race sidewall?
I am alternating between sworks renegade/kenda rush TR or wolfpack speed/Rush SCT as a rear tire - depending if there are rocks or not.
If dubnital race is something in between maybe I can get by without changing.

PS! I still think that renegade s-works is faster than any of these (including burt)
My current rear tire a the moment is air trak flex lite - feels little bit slower than older renegade on marathon courses (bumpy grass/soil/gravel) - probably because of 120tpi>60tpi change.
Has more grip, little bit stronger sidewalls, than gen2 s-works - probably better/faster for xco racing.
Still much more flimsy and prone to folding in the corners compared to heavier tyres (wolfpack speed).

They did share their tolerances with me.

The tolerance number they are using is 2mm +/-.

I know since I owned a 2.25 Thunder Burt that was not 57mm, but 53.83mm or 2.08".... I had rim strikes all the time or I needed to inflate the pressure more up.

No more Schmallbe for me anymore.

Edit: this was on a 27mm rim.

Here's my recent data point, for whatever it's worth:

Currently doing a weekly XC race series. I rode last week on a broken-in Wolfpack Race/Speed combo and this week on a new Vittoria Mezcal/Peyote combo. Course is short (5 mile repeat loops), hardpack to sand-over-hard, one gentle climb but mostly rolling flats. Some fun g-outs, but not technical riding. Course condition and temperature was identical both weeks, and I was max personal effort both weeks. Same pressures, 19F/22R. No power meter so this isn't particularly scientific.

Objective data:
  • Mezcal is 756g, Peyote is 749g.
  • Wolfpack Race is 725g, looks like I forgot to weigh the Speed.
  • On this course, the Vittoria combo was consistently 2-4% slower than the Wolfpacks across all segments.
Subjective observations:
  • The Vittorias get overwhelmed pretty quickly in straight-line loose conditions. Pretty squirrely braking in loose-over-hard, or even riding in sand.
  • OTOH, the Vittorias feel more locked in for cornering. I've never loved the Race side knob design (small knobs spaced quite far apart) and it leads to some butt-clench moments in practice. The Vittorias lean nicely.
  • The Peyote feels fast AF on pavement, basically a gravel tire. I'm scratching my head over why this didn't translate to dirt.
  • The Wolfpack tires have a noticeably more supple casing.
This isn't meant to be gospel or scientific, but I wanted to share because I found the outcome surprising. Given the Peyote tread design and how fast it felt around the neighborhood, I really expected the setup to be quick on trail.
