That's just one of the many things that caused me to give up a life long passion for motorcycles and switch to mountain biking. People DGAF and right or wrong the two wheeler always looses the argument. After being hit twice in just over a year in two of my smaller cars i just picked up a 2025 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 tonight, its gonna make a great mountain bike hauler and mabey discourage folks from hitting me but probably not.
A lot of drivers can't even see my bright red Tacoma. Congrats on the new truck!

So today I learned that some Seattle drivers don't care if you're crossing the intersection on your bike right now, they're going to make a left turn into you anyway.

Seriously! Happened twice today on my lunch ride around Green Lake. I was in a protected bike lane both times as well, with those big green markers on the ground, with an obviously green light, and even pedestrian walk signs on. First incident involved not one but two cars. As I came up to the intersection, I am alert for things like this, the car in the left turn lane starts to turn into the intersection. I put on the brakes a bit just to be safe and started shaking my head at the driver and they unapologetically looked at me and kept going. The driver right behind them in the left turn lane saw the whole thing, so I figure he is aware and I continued across the intersection. He guns it and almost hits me, staring me down the whole time.

Later, on the same ride, different intersection, different driver, same result. It's broad daylight out. I came up to an intersection where it was a green light, I had the right of way, I'm in the bike lane. I see cars just taking lefts. But then there's a gap. I have the right of way anyway. I started across the intersection, the lady in the turn lane turns anyway. She kinda shrugged her shoulders and mouthed "Sorry" like "What are you gonna do? I need to turn left here cyclist guy"

I just have to shake my head at these people. If they hit me, I'm getting hurt. So they just DGAF
That’s why I stopped being a roadie in my town and stuck with gravel only.

Glad everyone had a good time! I'll see if I can make it out soon. I have been and will be working a ton this season. Getting a rare opportunity to work with one of the best, maybe even the best truck/equipment mechanic in Snohomish county and beyond. So stoked to be making it in this area. Been having quite the time cleaning up the farm and planting trees etc, too!

North Slope was running exceptionally good today. Turbo had 4 laps before everyone arrived and finished with 13 or 14. He rode every trail but the new lower section of TLD. He even rode the new upper section of Octogon thats not finished yet. He hit Slick Jimmy, Low Key, Mr. Bones, LTD, Scobey, Octogon, Stormy and DNR. I missed Octogon and Mr. Bones but hit everything else.

I finally had some fun, rode with speed and aggression. Loved Low Key and Slick Jimmy! DNR was a brutal one to end the day on. It just keeps throwing chunk at you and is a long one. Beautiful weather, hero dirt, dry roots and minimal dust are everything you could ask for.

I made a little clip of some of the action at Tiger yesterday (unlisted video)

You guys did great :D. What was that first root drop/thing? Is that usually done as a drop, or do most people just rattle down it?

And CUrveball, you really stomped that drop. Nice work.

Our Galby day was great. I'll write up a thoughts about ebikes some other time. But I rode a XL Transition Repeater PT rented from the Transition outpost, 2 buddies were on Trek Rails, and the brother in law was riding an Evil Epocalpyse rented from the Evil headquarters in Bellingham. We rode Evo (which, I swear the stinger feature or its run-in changed recently? I was the only one in the group to do it), U-Line, A-dog 4 times, Blue Ribbon twice, and then a bunch of the laps on the new jumps at the end.

The highlights:

I got nailed with some trailside debris (log off trail to the right, had a stick that stuck out directly towards me) right before the wallride on A-Dog.. It pinged off the front of the knee pad, and snagged on the side, and hit my patella brace I've been wearing (as this is the knee with the broken thing on it), and ripped a good size hole in it. I hiked back up immediately afterwards and broke that thing. It was dangerous.

Tore up my knee pad pretty bad. I might get to see how good Raphas "repairs" are for this :D.

I think it also smashed the crap out of the derailleur. As the GX Transmission was NOT shifting after that. I actually rode back to the outpost, so then I could get them to take a look at it. I was worried I'd toasted it with the stick, and that I'd be on the hook for a repair bill. But it had just knocked the B tension adjustment out of it, and after a quick adjustment at the shop, it was back to the races.

This was my first time riding blue ribbon when it wasn't crazy wet (right after it opened... and should have still been closed). Its fun (I think it flows way better than U Line personally), but I am NOT good enough to get the jumps yet. I'd need a couple hundred more laps. But man, the berms are great.

Also, they have some new jump lines right at the very bottom of gate and switch, juuust as you start to head to the parking lot. We had some extra time after my brother in law ran out of battery, and we sessioned these like 10-15 times. They have a green and a blue, and I'd actually call the "blue" a "light blue", but I was vibing on it pretty hard, and really started meshing with the bike. I thought I'd notice the weight more trying to do the sharp turns on this, and... nah, didn't bother me at all.

I call it a win any time I get comfortable enough on a bike/jump, to start moving the bike around. Check out my "sweet skills and movement" :D. I'm like, off the ground by inches, INCHES I tell you :D.

That’s the entry drop into NOTG which hits you right after you branch off at the fork with OTG. It’s too tall to be a comfortable roll and I never even considered rolling it the four times I’ve ridden NOTG, but a few people told me they roll it on the right or left. There was a guy there this weekend who rolled it on the right so it looks like that’s an option, but it honestly looked harder than just dropping it to me.

By the way great shenanigans report. You always have the dirt!

Wall ride on Adog? Are you refering to the very bottom of the trail where you can go up on the rock on the right hand turn?

good to know sir! NOTG is on my list, just haven’t hit it yet. Looks like a few decent sized drops on that trail now.

Correct, that is what I was referring to. Right at the end. You can see the rock in the screenshot.

No idea what else to call it/what others call it, so I threw a guess out there :).

Wife and I had a long weekend of yardwork. She opened up her garden beds for business and I built a mulch pit around my above ground pond!

It's Monday and I'm beat!

I'm beat to hell after working on my truck all day yesterday. And I still have one shock/spring to install tonight.

‘‘Tis the season. My wife is running a big plant sale fundraiser this Friday and Saturday for the kids elementary school. I usually go down there and help them load out dozens of flats of different seedlings.

I’ve never done shocks and struts because it looks like a bear.

I'd prefer to have a mechanic do it, but after too many expenses and taxes, I figure I need to save the labor cost. My son was helping me too. He's coming back tonight to help me finish it and put new shocks on his truck, which will be a whole lot easier than mine because it's full leaf spring suspension.

If you are swapping them out, it's not too bad. If you are swapping coils, it may require more work and tools. I installed 2" lift kit (new shocks/struts/springs) on my old 2020 Outback. I did the job in about 4 hrs which included installing lift blocks. Then again, I have a Ryobi battery powered impact driver. It helps a ton. I highly recommend buying one along with impact sockets.
