Is the catch here curved seat tube and 2.2 tire size limit?

otherwise looks like a stellar deal.
XC bike, that curved seat tube won't impact anything. Top tube too high to put a monstrously long dropper in there.

My SueprCaliber has the largest 2.2's I've ever seen. They are the factory tire, and as big as my Specialized 2.35's. I actually bought some Spesh 2.2's for a different bike based on that, but didn't run them long since they were nowhere nearly as wide as the Bontrager 2.2's.

So if that is any benchmark, you could likely run wider than 2.2's

I was about to pull the trigger on one as a trainer bike / fire road bike, then found a used 2016 for a great price, I bought it just before the snow fell in November and am able to ride it outside just now as the snow melts.

I really like it, the Isospeed decoupler is quite effective in smoothing out impacts through the saddle, and the frame is plenty stiff and responsive. The quality of the carbon work is top notch. Tire clearance is ample and will clear any Maxxis 2.4.

If the geometry works for you and is what you want, I see no reason to avoid this frame.

Also, it looks like that frame does not included the cable port plugs, might need to source those from your Trek dealer, if still available.
Why do you say that? The description doesn't say anything about needing to purchase cable port covers separately (unlike some of their other frames), and one of the reviews even says "comes with all the hardware fittings too". Also, the description says that the headset is included, which is a nice bonus.

Edit - Here is even a picture from their ebay listing that shows exactly what it comes with:

For anyone that wants to see how these build out, here is a couple of pretty good videos with light and light/blingy builds. 20 lbs is possible with super light wheels like Bontrager Covee RSL:

My black and purple one I posted above is 20.5 pounds with carbon Roval Control wheels, which have also been posted recently in the deal thread for $1,000.

Nice. I stand corrected. I had just based it on the cover photo. Again, I strongly recommend. Mine is at 20.5 lb w/ a Reba fork, ENVE M50, GX 11 speed, XX1 Quarq Crankset, Level Ultimate brakes, & Conti RaceSport tires.

Nice build! I'm a little tempted to build one up with a 450gm carbon fork, and some some wheels similar to the Rovals (the Covee XXX posted a while back that are OOS are even lighter at 1290gm), and an old school SRAM 11 speed groupset with a 270gm X01 11-42 cassette. With some light tires and carbon everything else 18lbs or even a little less could be doable. Got too many bikes that I hardly use as is however, lol
