@lo@nRider That harsh feeling with the Grip2 is the one thing that I dispise, are you Grip2 OG or Grip2vvc?
I have the older Grip2 with only vcc for the rebound, I guess I should have specified. I haven't ever run the newer one with vcc for compression as well, I imagine that one feels marginally better but probably still not as good as actually changing the shim stack.

Just got my Lift to upgrade a Charger RC. Had an odd situation after instal where the rebound didn’t seem to engage. Reinstalled after fully opening rebound (instead of 50% as instructed). Rebound seems to be working as it should now.

Based on feedback in this thread, I was expecting a significant amount of LSC. Should I be able to tell a difference with LSC fully open / fully closed when compressing while off the bike? Didn’t want to hit MRP support with Q’s, yet.

for reference, I’ve owned just about every Fox/RS damper over the past 25 years.

LSC compressing in the parking lot? Blue tune Fox 36 I couldn't tell one bit of difference. I could tell a difference via hand dyno before the install.

I am running a coil with the green tune, the difference between LSC wide open and closed is massive while off the bike. With it open standing next to the bike I can cycle the fork a bit by just barely pressing on the bars. With it closed I have to push down pretty hard to get the fork to move. Based on what you are saying with LSC and rebound it sounds like you might not have enough oil in there.

I'd have thought it would be obvious in the carpark. I mean low speed is chassis stability, IE the rider movement. So if you're pumping it in the carpark there should be a difference. High speed less so as it's harder to mimic a decent impact.

People, do we have any first-hand account or just how firm the fully closed LSC is on the V2? I think it's fair to say that most of us aggressive riders aren't going to want lock out our fork, or anything close to that...but a downcountry or XC bike, that's a different story. I'm building up a light weight trail bike, and for that, I could see wanting to firm up the fork heavily on certain climbs...

Lockout is asinine. There's nothing anyone is getting out of that vs. just closing compression and making it stiff. To get a firmer lockout, it usually takes a preloaded piston, which usually means harsher suspension all around.

Based on the description of the v2 up on the MRP site, it doesn’t sound like a true lockout, just more compression ramp-up in the last two clicks. Good for climbing, probably won’t be what the XC crowd is looking for.
Right.

@Noah...what's the story here? How firm is it when all the way closed? The masses would love some additional feedback please!

The platform they added to the firmest position is closing the LSC, nothing to do with a preloaded stack.

I'm not sure where you are coming from but your 48k+ posts of know it all attitude is getting old.

The V1 is already preloaded stack. Hoping V2 is flat piston or flat with a step on outside so I can choose to use preload or not.

Has anyone compared the Lift in a 36 with the new X2 damper? I’m not all that happy with Fox. I was at the Fox booth at Sea Otter at 8:00 in the morning and they had already run out of the new dampers to do upgrades. Which I understand, it happens. But really, 8:00, before the 9:00 opening on the busiest day? Already out? Marketing scam? Whatever! But, it felt like Devine Intervention. 🤣 Now I’m thinking MRP Lift V2 instead. The guy I talked to at MRP was really nice and helpful, unlike the guy at Fox, who hadn’t had his coffee yet.

In all fairness, SeaDonkey is always such a festival of excrement for the folks paid to be there, I wouldn't read into that too much. Practically, the cost of the newer Fox dampers would make it to where only the warranty compatibility could sway me (and frankly, I don't care about that, I just want the best performing setup to go beat on and use well past its service intervals anyway)

my lift damper has been the most intuitive and comfortable fork damper i’ve tried so far. it’s a little loud and not without its nuances but it is very very comfortable especially at speed. i don’t think i’ve used full travel yet with 0 volume spacers and 10psi below manufacturers rec BUT in the real world it offers me a lot of control and grip. i sometimes find fox’s higher end dampers to be a bit convoluted to set up.

Actually. I just worked it out with Fox. I’m going to send them in for the service and the upgrade. I think. Persuade me to get the MRP damper guys.

a 127 page thread isn't persuasion enuff?

Personally, I much prefer the V1 Lift damper over the Charger 2.1 in the Pike on my Ibis Ripley.
